Everyone deserves the right to choose their healthcare. We are grateful for modern day medicine and we are grateful for holistic care. Both can work together without removing our rights as professionals.

đ¨ SB385 URGENT CALL TO ACTION đ¨
**PROTECT HEALTH FREEDOM IN OHIO**
STOP THE CARELESS REGULATION OF SB385
**First hearing is Wednesday, April 15th**
Senator Terry Johnson has introduced SB385, a bill that seeks to regulate naturopathic medicine.
The current language of SB385 contains critical structural flaws that will criminalize traditional wellness practitioners, create legal wars between medical boards, and tether Ohio law to a failing national accreditation body.
We need you to contact Senator Johnsonâs office immediately.
Do not just say "I am against the bill."
We must provide his staff with the specific section-by-section analysis below so they understand exactly what needs to be fixed.
**THE FACTS: WHAT IS WRONG WITH SB385?
---> Section 4789.02 (Title Erasure): This section makes the word "naturopathy" exclusive to medical-tier practitioners. This criminalizes traditional practitioners who have used this title safely in Ohio for over 120 years.
---> Section 4789.04 (Accreditation Cliff): This bill requires a degree from the CNME. On March 25, 2026, federal advisors (NACIQI) recommended denying the CNMEâs recognition. If the CNME fails, the entire legal foundation of SB385 collapses.
---> Section 4789.09 (Scope Paradox): This section allows "manipulation" but forbids "adjustments." It creates a jurisdictional war between the Medical and Chiropractic boards and grants a broad surgical/physical scope to practitioners with a fraction of the training required by current Ohio law.
---> Section 4789.09 (Modality Capture): It classifies herbs, homeopathy, water-cures, and many other natural health modalities as "medical acts." Without a Safe Harbor Amendment, many natural health professionals could face a 5th-degree felony just for doing their job.

Subject: Concerns regarding SB385 â Request for Safe Harbor Amendment
"Hello, my name is [Your Name] and I am a resident of [Your City/County]. I am calling/writing to express my deep concerns regarding the current language of SB385.
While I understand the intent to regulate medically trained naturopaths, the bill in its current form is a 'monopoly model' that will harm Ohio small businesses. Specifically:
**Section 4789.02 effectively criminalizes traditional wellness titles that have been used safely in Ohio since 1885.
**Section 4789.04 relies on the CNME, which is currently facing federal de-recognition, creating a massive regulatory risk for our state.
**Section 4789.09 captures common herbs, botanicals, homeopathics, and many other natural health modalities as 'medical acts,' which could turn local natural health professionals like herbalists, homeopaths, and traditional naturopaths into felons overnight.
I urge Senator Johnson to adopt a 'Safe Harbor' amendment similar to The Unlicensed Health Care Practice Act in New Mexico. This would allow medical naturopaths to be licensed while protecting the rights of traditional practitioners to continue their work. Please fix SB385 before it moves forward. Thank you."
