"Now you can study chiropractic in Norway
7 June 2024
A collaboration between Kristiania, the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) and the Norwegian Chiropractor Association makes it possible for the first time in history to study chiropractic in Norway.
The study is set up according to a combined model of 3 + 2.5 years + rotation. The Bachelor's degree in Biomedicine is taken at Kristiania in Oslo, and the Master's degree is completed at the Faculty of Medicine at SDU in Odense, Denmark. After the master's course, the education is complemented, as before, with a year's rotation service in Norway.
The Norwegian Chiropractic Association has worked intensively for more than 25 years to establish chiropractic training in Norway. When this now happens in collaboration with SDU, which is considered to be a world leader in education and research on musculoskeletal health, it is nothing less than a dream come true.
- This is in truth a day of joy for us. After more than 25 years of working to establish chiropractic education in Norway, we can now say that chiropractors have found an academic home. First of all, it is good news for those with musculoskeletal problems. An academic institution will be at the forefront of development and quality assurance of musculoskeletal health and the chiropractic profession in Norway. This is very good news for both the profession and our patients, says chairman of the Norwegian Chiropractor Association Anne Marie Selboskar Selven
A world-class chiropractic education
In all the years Norwegian politicians have worked to facilitate the establishment of a Norwegian chiropractor education, they have looked to the Danish model with the aim of creating something similar.
In Denmark, the 5-year professional education in chiropractic at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) has existed since 1995. This is considered to be the very best musculoskeletal education in the world. The professional environment at SDU is considered world-leading and the chiropractor has a special position in the Danish healthcare system.
- The collaboration between Kristiania and the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) makes this education completely unique. This will provide a world-class chiropractor education that is adapted to the Norwegian healthcare system. Interaction with the rest of the healthcare system will be easier, and it will strengthen the chiropractors' position, reputation and reputation, concludes Selven.
