This little device plays a big role in making our aircraft safer.

The Magic Monkey allows us to simulate the failure of multiple safety‑critical components during flight — such as motor failure — and test that the aircraft responds as predicted and intended.

By intentionally pushing the system to its limits, we gain the insights needed to make urban air mobility not only possible, but reliable and safe for everyone.

🚁 Pushing the boundaries of how we fly.

We’re excited to share a glimpse into one of our latest milestones: demonstrating piloted, remote‑controlled, and XR Ground Station–enabled flight capabilities.

In our newest setup, we’ve enhanced one of our flight simulators to support advanced flight‑test operations directly from the ground. Using a mixed‑reality environment, the pilot interacts with a real aircraft cockpit layout, complete with representative controls and displays—creating an immersive first‑person experience that feels remarkably close to being on board.

This approach allows us to:
✨ Validate critical scenarios that cannot be flown safely in real life
✨ Support certification activities for unpiloted aircraft
✨ Improve pilot familiarization and training workflows
✨ Accelerate the path toward operational maturity for eVTOL systems

With these advancements, we’re addressing some of the most complex challenges in the certification and training of next‑generation aircraft—making each step of the journey more efficient, structured, and scalable.

🚀 Volocopter to Launch Europe’s First eVTOL Sandbox Program in 2026!

We’re taking Urban Air Mobility to the next level: In 2026, we will kick off a sandbox program to test our VoloCity and VoloXPro aircraft under near-commercial conditions.

✅ Goal: Accelerate certification and operational readiness for electric air taxis and ultralight aircraft.
✅ How: Real-world flight trials, point-to-point missions, and collaboration with trusted partners like ADAC Luftrettung to explore emergency medical service applications.

Last week, we conducted developmental noise flight testing to verify the applicability of the Environmental Protection Technical Specifications (ETPS) to the VoloCity design.

We were honored to have the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) witness the tests, ensuring close engagement during our company flight test phase. This collaboration is crucial for efficiently preparing the upcoming noise certification tests based on practical data and observations.

❤️ A Day to Remember ❤️

Last Friday, we opened our doors and hangar to celebrate our first Family Day since joining Diamond Aircraft. The result? A fantastic afternoon full of curiosity, connection, and a shared sense of purpose.

Together with HubWerk01 and their "Zukunftstag" initiative, we welcomed employees and their families to explore the future of urban air mobility. Our VoloCity Mockup exhibition and special hangar tours sparked real excitement - especially among the youngest visitors.

One moment stood out: after seeing the aircraft up close during the hangar tour, a young girl whispered, "I want to build an aircraft, too." 🚁💭
That's precisely the inspiration we hope to spark - across all generations.
There was a real sense of motivation and togetherness - we're not just building aircraft but growing into a family.

💡Volocopter Goes to School.💡

15 Students from the United States Visit Volocopter.

Various automobile manufacturers and Volocopter are opening their production facilities. The goal is to provide students from the United States with insights into the world of mobility. It was a great honor and pleasure for us to open our hangar doors in Bruchsal for 15 students and 3 teachers.

The students' visit is part of a two-week educational trip to Germany and Sweden, organized by the renowned company Putney Student Travel. The educational trip aims to convey the history of the mobility industry and its current technological developments in an exciting and practical way.

Electric and autonomous driving, automobile design and automation, new mobility concepts, and urban planning are the focus of the excursion. Volocopter, as a pioneer in Urban Air Mobility (UAM) and a leading manufacturer of electric air taxis in Europe, was a must-see. Deep insights, exciting discussions, and lots of fun made the almost four-hour visit fly by.

As of May 2025, we are proud to have secured 112 granted patents across 74 patent families, with scope of protection in key countries including Germany, France, the UK, the USA, and China. Plus, we’re excited to have over 80 more pending patent applications in the pipeline!

🌞 Spring has been delightful this year! Recently, we enjoyed several beautiful, sunny days perfect for testing.

With maximum wind gusts of 20 knots and warm temperatures, our team is diligently working to validate our aircraft systems. The team collected multiple data points during the test flight, building up speeds between 44 to 55 knots at low altitudes. The test data gathered is vital to validate functionality and safe operations.
