one way to challenge yourself as a painter is to use a color you have any kind of "difficult relationship" with. in fact, many painters have a weird love-hate relationship to one or another specific color - and nevertheless keep reaching for it. in the time when I was an art student, I for instance once heard the painter complaining about his unfortunate relationship to the color green. for me it was (and still is) the whole palette of pastels - especially the pink color set - as well as the so called "effect paints" like gold or pearl (which nearly all professional painters ignore). as a new approach i decided to concentrate on exactly this "problematic" colors and start a series of paintings I call "sweetmeat" (a specific inspirational source helps me overcoming my own color-bias - and NO, sorry, but it's really NOT inspired from the newly released 😉).
