🌺In celebration of the ✨International Women's Day✨ we would like to highlight our inspiration, all the amazing ✨Jamu Gendong Women✨ (jamu sellers) who are the main contributors on keeping the knowledge and practices of Jamu in daily life!🌺
🌺Jamu is an Indonesian cultural heritage of herbal tonic associated with ✨Health & Beauty✨ that has been used for centuries. At its most basic, Jamu is made of natural ingredients, such as rhizomes, roots, bark, flowers, seeds, leaves and fruits with healing properties. 🥰
🌺While Jamu is for everyone, the industry and practice of Jamu is mainly dominated by ✨women✨ in Indonesia:
💛One reason is that the knowledge of Jamu has been passed down from generation to generation through women in families.
💛Further, the Jamu industry has also been shaped by the fact that women in Indonesia have historically faced more barriers to formal employment and entrepreneurship compared to men. This has meant that many women have turned to Jamu as a way to earn a living and support themselves and their families.
