It is February! At the moment, I don’t know if this feels fast or slow. Sometimes my weeks feel like they are a month long, and other weeks feel like one day. Does this resonate with you as well? Recently I have been challenged by a book, “When Things Fall Apart,” by Chödrön. She basically called me out on needing to “have things all together” in order to feel good about myself. These last 6-9 months have had their ups and downs, and I definitely have not always felt good. When I don’t feel good, I have a usual pattern of thoughts that happen in my mind, I think, “I just need to eat better, exercise more, get outside more, be more productive with my time...” basically “do” more to feel like I am good. Yes, all of these things are good FOR me, but they are not what makes me good. While I know this rationally, I see that I have this pattern ingrained in me. I have been challenged to simply be with whatever emotions I am feeling. To see them clearly, with compassionate kindness, without the need to compel myself to change. Breathe in what I am feeling, and know that there are others who feel this too. That I am not alone. Breathe out compassion, kindness, and love towards myself and others. In this moment in time, with all that is happening around us, we can still feel bad, and be good.
