📿 Yogis of Ukraine: War on the outside. Peace on the inside.

What does it mean to teach Kundalini Yoga in a bomb shelter?

This powerful new book shares the voices of 35 Ukrainian women — including Kundalini teacher Olesia Stoianova — who used yoga to heal themselves, their soldiers, and their communities during war.

Their stories are a testament to the depth of our practice — not just as self-care, but as sacred service.

🕊️ For yoga teachers, therapists, and all who believe in the power of presence to transform trauma — this book will move you, challenge you, and inspire your path.

💛 Available in English, Ukrainian, German, French, and Spanish.

In this short video, expert faculty member Siri Bhagvati, C-IAYT shares a powerful example from our 300-hour certificate "Bringing Kundalini Yoga into Healthcare" that highlights just one of the many subtle ways teaching Kundalini Yoga becomes elevated to a therapeutic level.

Listen as Siri Bhagvati talks about the 3 powerful languages of teaching therapeutically.

Feel the difference as she guides you through a subtle example from just one of those languages - the language of invitation.

Learn how a discerning shift in words - from instructional to invitational - transforms how you teach and how students experience the yoga, especially those with health conditions.

Be inspired to learn about the 3 languages and so much more in the 300-hour certificate training!

🧠 Therapeutic Teaching Tip: Interoceptive Awareness 🧘‍♀️

Interoception is the powerful skill of noticing and interpreting the internal signals of your body — a crucial part of trauma recovery and whole-person healing.

When we’re navigating stress, illness, or trauma, the mind often takes over — scanning for threats, problem-solving, or trying to stay in control. In that process, we may disconnect from our bodies, feeling overwhelmed or betrayed by what we sense inside.

But as Dr. Bessel van der Kolk reminds us:
“The more you can tolerate what you feel, the more you can know what you need to do to take care of yourself.”

Reconnecting with the body — learning its language — gives us essential feedback about our needs and helps us respond with care.

✨ Here’s a simple interoception practice to try:

• Take 3 slow breaths, feeling the breath move in and out.
• Shift your attention to your heartbeat. Simply notice its rhythm, its steadiness or variation.
• Next, notice your internal temperature. Is there warmth in some areas, coolness in others?
• Allow your awareness to expand to include your belly — sensing fullness, emptiness, or movement from your breath.
• Rest in this inner listening for 1–2 minutes.

Try it for yourself. Then bring it into your teaching — between kriya exercises, after pranayama, or to close your class — deepening students’ self-awareness and capacity for regulation.

🌟 Graduate Spotlight: Rut Frohlich (Harjinder Kaur) 🌟

Rut entered our program with a clear mission: to bring healing to others through yoga. Today, as a Kundalini Yoga Therapist, she’s doing exactly that — working in an integrative clinical setting to support individuals recovering from PTS and chronic stress.

Her approach is grounded in trauma-responsive care, nervous system regulation, and deep listening — tools she first developed in the initial 300 hours of our training.

💬 "I wholeheartedly endorse the training offered by the Guru Ram Das Center, where faculty members share their vast knowledge with exceptional care and intention... The unique training—especially emphasizing personal embodiment and nervous system awareness—enables us to tailor our care to each client's distinct needs... while maintaining a compassionate space, and recognizing the immense value of listening."

We’re honored to celebrate Rut’s path and the deeply individualized care she offers through therapeutic Kundalini Yoga. 💛
