No instrument in the world is played more intensively by hand than a percussion instrument. It is this idea that has set the rhythm for our manufacturing. We build cajons, cajintos, yambus, log drums and other percussion instruments for people with passion in their hearts and rhythm in their blood, for professional musicians all over the world and, to a certain extent, for posterity. In other words, Schlagwerk instruments keep the promise of our craft: to provide masterly manufacturing quality and excellent sound that lasts for many, many years. This is what has made us a role model for 30 years now. We are also proud of the number of friendships that we have developed with musicians and music therapists from all over the world. Hand in hand with them, we have created a range of instruments and accessories that is unique in the world of percussion. Just as unique as each one of our instruments.

A traditional instrument — with a modern voice. 🥁✨

The bodhrán is a traditional Irish frame drum — and we couldn’t resist creating our own take on it.

We’ll be honest: there were some skeptical voices along the way. Not everyone believed this would turn into something truly special. That’s exactly why we worked closely with experienced bodhrán players during development — refining every detail, from feel to tone.

When Irish bodhrán player and percussionist Cormac Byrne got his hands on it and loved what he heard, we knew we were on the right track.

Our NeoTrad Bodhrán combines a warm, deep low end with clear articulation and modern playability — built for both traditional and contemporary styles.

What does a cajón sound like when you play it with brushes instead of your hands?
The answer: it all depends on the brush you use.

Our long-time endorser and percussionist Matthias Philipzen shows how much the sound of a cajón can change when you play it with different brushes instead of your hands.
Matthias demonstrates three models: Cajon Brush #1 (BRC01), Cajon Brush #3 (BRC03), and Cajon Brush #5 (BRC05). Each brush features adjustable rods with a movable rubber ring — a small detail that makes a huge difference in sound. When the rubber ring is pushed all the way forward, the tone becomes tight, punchy, and powerful. As you slide the ring further back, the sound gradually turns softer, warmer, and more mellow.

Tradition meets innovation — and every note tells a story. 🔥

Italian percussionist, composer, and songwriter Giovanni Parrinello blends musical tradition with a modern approach. His mission is to present music in a way that connects with younger audiences — not just as listeners, but as active participants. Having grown up with frame drums and cajón, he has developed a distinctive and expressive style to do exactly that.

In this video, Giovanni showcases the warm, dynamic sound of his signature cajon. In the close-up shots, you can also get a detailed look at his playing and the subtle nuances of his performance.
