As part of the German Genealogy Collective co-researching session we started contributing our time to working on the project of the Arolsen Archives, the International Center on N**i Persecution.
We worked as a team, supporting each other in transcribing these documents, and learning the history of these individuals and time through such an interesting hands on approach.
๐๏ธ The project aims to digitize the surviving documentation about the victims of the N**i persecution to create a digital memorial.
The collective members became part of the hundred of thousands of volunteers contributing their time to transcribe the card files and documents. This process helps preserve the fragile originals and allows people all over the world access to these documents.
๐ Yesterday, our community - a mix of Americans, Canadians and English participants - started working together on this project as a team and some shared their thoughts on the experience:
๐ฌ "Thank you for this project. So meaningful."
๐ฌ "This is a great project, will continue more each day."
๐ฌ "Thank you. I was glad to contribute"
๐ฌ "I am grateful to have had the chance to help the displaced"
Every name counts. All the effort and support matters. Thank you to all who are participating and if you are interested in this project you should absolutely take the time to look into it and become a volunteer!
