Thank you .mag šŸ‹ for the recipe feature!

Find some of my favorite recipe staples for autumn and dive into this beautiful magazine (link in bio). Darling Atlas snuck in charming everyone as usual :)

As the air gets crispy and clear in autumn, as beautiful as it is, it dries us up. It is therefore important to include good fats and oil in our diets, drink and eat mainly warm foods and even use oil on your body. Sharing a sneak peak from the interview below:

BEST AYURVEDIC 5 TIPS
FOR BUSY MODERN LIFE

• Drink warm water instead of cold.
• Instead of pre-cooking, pre-chop veggies to save time, but cook the food fresh.
• Prioritize sleeping between 10 pm and 6 am as much as possible.
• Oil your feet with raw sesame oil, put on socks and go to deep sleep.
• Scrape your tongue 7 times from back to front after brushing your teeth to remove toxins.

New beginnings…

• 15 years of contemplation and thinking I’m too late to study.
• 13 years of learning German though lessons and living life in Hamburg.
• 1 year of waiting after taking an exam in German to up my grades.

And here we are. Today I had my first day studying to become a Psychologist. It feels slighlty overwhelming, incredibly exciting and so right.

I can not wait to broaden my expertise and be even better able to support clients with coaching and psychology. Here we go!

I haven’t learned as much about my psyche, surrender and grit in a long time. I have never carried 20 kg on my back for an extended period of time. Or walked more than around 15 km at once. The two of them together, with the distance doubled and in harsh terrain, wind, rain and camping, for days on end? Next level.

When I thought of the Swedish mountains I had a glamorous idea of them being inviting. I imagined they were just waiting to be discovered. As excited to welcome me as I was to meet them, I would run up the hills to meet mother nature’s warm embrace and feel, this is my country. This is where I belong.

But the mountains and nature here is rough, unfiltered and can not be tamed. There are no trees to protect you. She runs her course and either we adjust or not. She is not waiting. She doesn’t need us. We need her. Here you are faced with yourself. There’s nowhere to run or hide from your thoughts and reality. It felt like the most intense meditation retreat I’ve ever been to.

On day four we are taking down our tent in 15 m/second wind as all of the secured attachments let go. The tent flies of, tumbles away in the wind and is gone. My immediate reaction is to run and get it. I burst through a field, over a swamp and slip in my sneakers. You know the kind of slipping that happens on a banana peel in a cartoon? šŸ˜‚ I fall flat on my back and loose my breath as get wet from top to toe. Get up, continue running, and there, about 150 meters down the hill has the expensive tent and our home gotten stuck. I lay on it to catch my breath and to understand it really is saved. We don’t sleep in it that night, but in bunkbeds with 8 German sweaty men who are mighty impressed with my language skills…

I’m leaving the mountains humbled, softer, with immense respect for nature and the elements. What just happened?

What I know now, is I am ready to apply the kind of determination and appreciation of life I’ve learned here. One where force doesn’t work. But slow, steady, focused steps and consistency in one direction pay off. Working with nature, not against her.

We will share more about what we ate with you soon šŸ²

If you are new here, extra welcome!

To share how and what I do is complex,
because it happens together with you.

Why is easier: So you can feel at home and fully empowered in your body. Trusting yourself and your voice. Living whole, at peace and present in your life. When we begin here, we can show up in service and offer what we came here for to others.

I hold space, guide, ask, listen, coach, and stay with you and take full responsibility for our process. With over a decade of experience working with clients 1:1, in retreats and workshops, I draw on many tools and work intuitively.

You show up, brave, honest, and ready to shed, heal, recover, remember. That is it.

I work with you who do your homework and truly are ready for change. Who are tired of getting the same results with old ways, finally opening to transformation.

With my medicine, journey and tools, I trust that if you resonate, I’ll meet you soon in a discovery call.

With love,
Lisa

ā€I was surprised that Ayurveda worked! I am leaving here pain-free (and is still pain-free 4 months later) after arriving with signs of a herniated disc. Sometimes I couldn’t sleep at night because of the pain. Like magic, it is gone now after 14 days.ā€

I am on my way back from a long weekend in London. Not the kind you might associate to when you hear that; avo toast brunches beautified with perfect latte art, sweaty pub crawls and fancy yoga studios with color coded participants. It’s been messier and so much more beautiful than that. Caring for my goddaughter and her sister by myself (thank god for co-parenting friends!) without their parents around, have humbled me and given me a taste of the love one might experience with their own children. It feels like I was let in on the secret of what it’s like to be a parent. They feel like my own now.

This weekend leaves me in awe of every single parent who show up wholeheartedly for your children. Who love and hug them through tears and temper tantrums, cooking foods they don’t want to eat, who negotiate screen times and bedtimes and when to buy them toys and not. It is a lot! And we have unfortunately built a society where the pressure is on and where they are not considered as high of a priority as they should be. Where teachers and caregivers are not compensated fairly. Where it’s often not ok to just be with your kids. Where you have to buy stuff they don’t need. Where they have to eat sugar cause it’s in everything and accepted by most. And where you have to juggle and choose between time consuming work that pays your bills, and time with the most important thing you are gifted.

Mostly I’m in awe of how much love one can feel. Their little hands, their soft faces when they sleep, the laughter and joy when they look for you, see you, and cheekily jump up in your arms and nothing else matters. Their ideas. To see them form personality and give them room to explore that. The love between siblings 😭 Their connection to nature and ability to notice details we miss. How clear their channel is and that they truly know what they want, when we don’t interfere. Kids are simply miraculous and I am so grateful to be an auntie and godmother.

The more we stay present with the seasons, the more we will realize that nature gives us exactly what we need. The foods that are cooling (asparagus, bitter sallad, cucumber) grow in summer, the nurturing, heavier root vegetables (potatoes, beets, carrots) sustain us through winter.

The most common question I get about Ayurveda is simply, where do I begin? How can I practice and get these wonderful effects?

One way to begin, is to find seasonal locally grown foods and learn to cook with them. Notice the difference in taste, how you feel after eating, your balanced energy levels, when you eat what nature has served for you.

Nutty Asparagus and Mozzarella

You need:
• 1 bunch of asparagus
• A dash of ghee
• 1 lime
• 1 organic mozzarella piece
• A handful of nuts or seeds
• Fresh basil
• Salt and pepper to taste

This is how:
1. Wash the asparagus and snap of the ends by hand to remove the dry hard part of the vegetable. Where it naturally breaks is the right spot.
2. In a frying pan, heat 1 tsp of ghee, a sprinkle of salt and add the asparagus. Fry on medium heat until colored but still have a bite, about 5-7 minutes. If they are very thick, add a bit of water to help them soften.
3. Move the asparagus to the side in the pan to sautƩ the nuts 1-2 minutes for an even nuttier toasted flavor.
4. Serve the mozzarella in slices with basil leaves tucked in between.
5. Plate the asparagus around the mozzarella with the nuts as topping. Squeeze lime over, ground some fresh pepper and enjoy!

I picked up my notebook yesterday to handwrite and realized I haven’t journaled in close to two months. Very unusual for me. In the same time I have had countless conversations with AI in text, planned travels and retreat menus in excel, moved houses, had big changes in relationships, gotten two of my mixes for my songs to feedback and work through, met new people that made deep impressions on me and of course, I am writing a book together with .

The reason I finally felt like journaling was to move emotions, energy in motion that felt stuck and unsortable in my mind. Something felt off and writing is one of many tools that often help.

Writing for me, fills a similar function as meditation and prayer does. It helps me sort thoughts, see them in front of me and get clear. It helps empty the mind, find calm and clarity and makes me think better. It is like having a conversation with myself and even the divine. It gives life meaning and structure, it helps things fall into place. It makes me feel alive and present.

As now 50% of all we read online is written by AI I wonder how this will affect our thinking and mental state. If we don’t have to go through the creative process of writing ourselves, are we loosing an important part of the puzzle? Are we loosing connection to ourselves?

I think we might. And as I am writing this, I wonder if you can feel me. I am not outsourcing my writing to a computer taking credit for it myself, this is me. This is the person that meet you at retreats and in the 1:1 sessions. You get what you sign up for.
What do you think? I’d love to hear.

So what is Ayurvedic food?
I get asked often.

Simply explained it is:

1. Food you can digest well. That means it mostly is cooked and cleaned well, prepared with spices and gentle heat to begin the digestive process outside of the body. This way you can receive the nutrients better. Just because you eat something, it does not mean your body can receive and absorb it.

2. Well spiced and tasty food. Ideally it has all 6 tastes present in the meal: Sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter and astringent. In my course ā€In the kitchenā€ you learn how to include them all in simple ways!

3. Local and fresh food as much as you possibly can, in the climate and lifestyle you live. What grows where you are, will naturally balance your body and mind. The fresher the food is, both in terms of where it is from, and when it is cooked, the more prana (life force), energy and flavor it will offer you.

Did I miss something you find important?
Let me know below! šŸ’

In two weeks we begin the final round of ā€In the kitchenā€ offered live. An online course where you learn to cook tasty food that will make you feel good šŸ‘©šŸ¼ā€šŸ³

09/11/2024

I am learning how to meditate, again. So many times I have thought, I figured it out. I know meditation now. This is it. But you see, just as we think arrogant thoughts like that, the universe gets the cue:
She is ready for more!

If the lesson isn’t finished, it presents itself again in a new shape and form for us to get to the root of the learning. And when it comes to meditation, I don’t think we ever are done learning and experiencing it.

So here I am. Learning to meditate with an ukuelele in my hand. A piano under my fingers. With the voice and truth as my instrument. Creating with a dear friend. Little Lisa is with us too.

As soon as I have a thought, it is lost. The beat, the note, the flow, the connection to the music. The irony is that it stops the flow, even if the thought is positive. Even if it is about how great it is to be present here, it throws everything off, leaves us hanging of beat. Equanimity is lost. And then the result of that is blasted in my face, so I really understand what happened 🫠 A friend said it well, ā€œrecording is being very naked in front of yourself.ā€

And the real meditation arrives.
Can you be kind when you mess up? Can you get back in rhythm without beating yourself up? Can you start over right away, focus on the breath, the present, the moment, without resistance or drama?

Weather we sit in classical meditation, make music, cook food, move, breathe, listen to a friend or focus on an important task in front of ourselves, all we have is really that. Right now.

So here we go again. Another day of listening, trusting, breathing, feeling, surrendering and sneaking up on the music, being only here. What a gift to practice and never be done learning.
