LISBON, Portugal - More than 240 military and civilian medical experts from 23 NATO and partner nations, including senior Portuguese military medical officials, gathered in Lisbon, Portugal Sept. 8-12 for the 32nd Annual Multinational Military Medical Engagement (MMME). Hosted by the 68th Theater Medical Command, the Portuguese Ministry of Defense and Portuguese Department of Military Medical Services, the theme for this year's Multinational Military Medical Engagement was - “Navigating through the Military Medical Challenges of the 21st Century.”

Medical Readiness Command Europe Soldiers compete in 2025 U.S. Army Best Squad Competition

SEMBACH, Germany - A team of 5 Soldiers from Medical Readiness Command, Europe will represent Army Medicine at the 2025 U.S. Army Best Squad Competition taking place at Fort Bragg, N.C. Oct. 2-15. Pictured from left to right are Spc. Ricardo Delgado, Spc. Selena Castro, Sgt. 1st Class Jon Nicolas, Sgt. Rico Elliot and Spc. Riley McMurren. The rigorous competition will assess each squad on their technical and tactical proficiency, as well as their ability to work as a disciplined and cohesive team. The competition features a multitude of different fitness and combat related events ranging from an official fitness assessment and various weapons lanes, to a strenuous 12-mile foot march and detailed individual warrior tasks and squad battle drills. Afterward, the top four teams will travel to Washington, D.C. for a board-style interview that will test their knowledge and professionalism in front of top Army senior leaders. TODAY IS NATIONAL POW/MIA RECOGNITION DAY

Today is National Prisoner of War and Missing in Action (POW/MIA) Recognition Day. This day is intended to honor American service members who were prisoners of war and/or missing in action. As Americans, we should all take time to honor their service and sacrifice, and to remember the sacrifice of their families as well.

According to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, as of 2025, there are still nearly 81,000 American servicemen and women reported missing or listed as prisoners of war.

LISBON, Portugal - More than 240 military and civilian medical experts from 23 NATO and partner nations, including senior Portuguese military medical officials, gathered in Lisbon, Portugal Sept. 8-12 for the 32nd Annual Multinational Military Medical Engagement (MMME). Hosted by the 68th Theater Medical Command, the Portuguese Ministry of Defense and Portuguese Department of Military Medical Services, the theme for this year's Multinational Military Medical Engagement was - “Navigating through the Military Medical Challenges of the 21st Century.” This year’s medical engagement consisted of a three-day multinational active program that included plenary sessions, breakout sessions and exhibitions aimed to improve interoperability and collaborate on challenges and opportunities currently faced by the military medical community in Europe.
According to event planners, this year’s military medical engagement in Portugal was a complete success, and they were delighted with the support and cooperation offered by allied and partner nations that took part.

VILSECK, Germany - On Friday Sept. 5, U.S. Army Medical Department Activity Bavaria held its change of command ceremony where they bid farewell to the outgoing commander, U.S. Army Col. SEMBACH, Germany - During a recent radio interview with American Forces Network (AFN) Europe, Dr. Jamie Moore, behavioral health service lead for Defense Health Network Europe, along with U.S. Army Col. Matthew Garrido, director of psychological health for Medical Readiness Command Europe, and Danielle Bega-Silva, family advocacy program consultant for Medical Readiness Command Europe emphasized the significance of Su***de Prevention Month, highlighting the critical need for awareness and intervention. The trio discussed the unique stressors faced by military servicemembers and their families, underscoring the importance of proactively reaching out for help when struggling. They also provided a comprehensive overview of the various resources available, ranging from mental health professionals and support groups to confidential counseling services, ensuring listeners understood they are not alone, and that accessible help is within reach for those who need it. Minister President of Rhineland-Pfalz visits ROBMC construction site

SEMBACH, Germany - On August 29, the Minister President of Rhineland-Pfalz, Alexander Schweitzer, visited the construction site of the new Rhine Ordnance Barracks Medical Center (ROBMC) being built near Ramstein Air Base. Accompanying the Minister President was U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Roger Giraud, director of Defense Health Network Europe and commander of Medical Readiness Command Europe. The new ROBMC medical facility will be the largest and most modern U.S. military hospital outside the continental U.S. and is set to replace the existing Landstuhl Regional Medical Center.

Our Story

Regional Health Command Europe is the only Regional Health Command in the Army that is fully forward stationed - responsible for all Army medical treatment facilities, dental clinics, veterinary clinics and public health services within the European Command.

RHCE is made up of four subordinate commands: Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Medical Department Activity Bavaria, Dental Health Command Europe and Public Health Command Europe. Together they enable RHCE to provide a trained, ready and capable health force at Army medical and dental treatment facilities in Germany, Italy and Belgium, while providing the full spectrum of Public Health and Veterinary services at military installations throughout Europe.

RHCE offers world-class health care to Department of Defense beneficiaries and their Families serving in EUCOM, AFRICOM, U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command Areas of Responsibility.
