Particle Metrix was founded in 2004 by the chemist Margret Böck and physicist Dr. Hanno Wachernig in Meerbusch near Dusseldorf. During the first two years, the company focused on counseling work for the particle characterization business. In 2006, Particle Metrix started developing its own nanoparticle
analyzers. Today, Particle Metrix's know-how comprises the development, production and sale of particle analysis devices using nanoparticle tracking technology. The company headquarter is nowadays located in Inning am Ammersee at the gates of Munich, and in addition to the administration and development department, also includes production as well as the service and support center. An experienced team of electrical engineers, chemists, biologists and physicists is available to the
customer to competently answer all possible questions. In addition to the large area of technical nanoparticles (e.g. colloidal and macromolecular solutions, emulsions, dispersions or nanobubbles), bio-medical and clinical applications play a central role for Particle Metrix. The company has specialized in the characterization of extracellular vesicles, exosomes, liposomes and viruses, using both scatter and fluorescence-based methods. The focus of
interest is on determining the size and concentration as well as measuring zeta potential of particles in the nanometer scale

We’re excited to share that we will be participating in the UKEV - United Kingdom Society for Extracellular Vesicles Forum 2025 at the University of Oxford.

Bertrand DAMART will be on site together with Mel Disher from our local distributor, Analytik Ltd.

We’re lucky to have our customer 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗮 𝗖𝘂𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 from Buenos Aires here in Germany - a wonderful opportunity to reconnect, exchange ideas, and dive into science together.

We brought our new ZetaView® Evolution to the Universität Würzburg, Center for Experimental Molecular Medicine ( ), where Christina Klasen, Marcela Cucher, and Paula Tabares conducted some exciting F-NTA experiments on plasma EVs.

As 2025 comes to a close, we’re happy to have had one of the last opportunities this year to showcase our NTA technology at the SelectBio 'Advances in Extracellular Vesicle & Biomimetic Science' at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

We are excited to announce our participation in the Smart Materials Conference 2025 ( ) in Cape Town!

From 3–5 December 2025, the The University of the Western Cape (UWC), in association with the American Chemical Society (ACS), IEEE, and the IEEE Nanotechnology, will bring together leading experts from materials science, nanotechnology, energy, electronics, medicine, and environmental research, including water and wastewater treatment.

𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗮? 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗭𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗩𝗶𝗲𝘄® 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀

Did you know that tea bags can release tiny particles into your cup and the evironment? Alexander Yaroslavov et al. used the 𝗭𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗩𝗶𝗲𝘄® 𝗤𝗨𝗔𝗧𝗧 to investigate 8 types of tea bags, revealing how synthetic ( , ) and natural ( ) materials behave under different temperatures and brewing times. The Particle Metrix NTA technology was used alongside other particle-characterization methods to analyze the released particles.

Key Findings:
· Particle size: 200 nm–1 µm, average ~600 nm
· Particle concentration increases with temperature and brewing time
· Synthetic particles remain stable, while cellulose particles are degraded by natural enzymes
· Particles show a negative surface charge, correlating with no observed cytotoxicity in Caco-2 cells
· Maximum particle concentrations: 14 × 10⁹/L (synthetic) and 170 × 10⁹/L (cellulose)

These insights help us better understand how everyday tea bags can release micro- and , an important topic in both environmental and food sciences.

One of the major challenges in (EV) research is that the majority of particles in plasma and serum are not EVs, but rather and protein aggregates, all overlapping in with vesicles.
This leads to:
· Inflated particle counts
· Masked EV-specific signals
· Misleading conclusions about EV abundance or biomarker levels

To overcome this, Everest Biolabs and Particle Metrix have partnered to establish a unified EV analysis workflow, combining:
· High-purity SEC isolation using Apex SEC columns
· Accurate, particle-specific quantification via advanced Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA)
