AMAZING JOB

Now that is some hardcore counter pressure 💪🏻

・・・
When you get called to a birth on Thanksgiving day and this is what you see when you walk in the door... this is some HARDCORE counter- pressure, if I do say do myself. 🙌🏾

(Counter-pressure is defined as steady, strong force applied to one spot on the lower back during contractions using the heel of the hand, or pressure on the side of each hip using both hands. Counter-pressure can help "counteract"  back pain during labor.)

Hello Beautiful Mamas!
I am a Birth and Postpartum Doula here in the KMC and given the recent events with spouses stuck in different countries on deployment, or our families not being able to come over to help, I wanted to shed some light on our community. I believe support when welcoming these babies into the world is vital. With that being said, if you or someone you know needs this extra help and support in these stressful times I will be giving away 3 birth packages for free! I will picking names of people submitted at random on the 4th of July! To enter simply comment below you or your submissions name! I can’t wait to hear from you all! Best wish to you all!!

*Note: As of recently certain hospital regulations only allow 1 support person in the room with mom. Please keep that in mind when submitting. ☺️*

I would like all of my clients to know that I am fully aware of the changing L&D policies and I understand that this creates serious anxiety when it comes to preparing for your labor. Please be assured that I am working hard to come up with solutions to prepare you and your partner for this. I, of course, hope that by the time we get to your labor that things will be better controlled and less restricted, but I also want to be prepared in case they are not. I am developing a virtual doula support program which will include videos, trainings for your partner and having me still present, virtually, during your labor. This helps me to ensure I can still support both you and your partner emotionally. I understand that this is not the most ideal situation but I want you all to know I am still here and am fully focused on continuing to support you. There will be kinks as I work this out, so I do ask for patience but please know that I am always open to feedback and suggestions. I am excited to work with each of you to continue having a positive birth experience, despite the changes and unknowns! As always with birth, plans change! If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to reach out. ❤

Hands. You hold your spouse's hand while you labor, you squeeze your doula's hand while you are pushing, you hold your baby's tiny hand while they stare up at you, your partner strokes your cheek with his hand in awe of the amazing thing you have just done... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The OB's skilled hands work quickly and efficiently to repair, the nurse's hands administer medicine to assist in numbing your pain, the med tech's hands warm and stimulate your brand new baby... so many hands play a role in your birth, today I am thankful to have been an outstretched hand for my client in this moment. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

WOW! Did your water break with a splash, a trickle, or not at all until as babe was born? (“En caul”)

Have you ever seen a baby surf out of the womb?

This is one of the best shots I've ever captured and so accurately portrays the unpredictability of birth AND the boss status of birth workers. Look at that composure! Completely unfazed.
Birth is absolutely miraculous, real, and raw. And I love every single moment!

Love this quote! Oxytocin’s magical 💕

.

“𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐠𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐲 𝐨𝐮𝐭”
-𝐼𝓃𝒶 𝑀𝒶𝓎 𝒢𝒶𝓈𝓀𝒾𝓃

Oxytocin is a hormone that acts on organs in the body (including the breast and uterus) and as a chemical messenger in the brain, controlling key aspects of the reproductive system, including childbirth, lactation, human behavior and or***ms.

We use it to give birth!

It’s our natural form of pitocin, which is what is regularly given in hospitals to bring on and increase contractions.

Unlike pitocin, Oxytocin has an intricate dance between your body and baby to give birth.

We can increase the release of Oxytocin naturally during labor just by kissing or holding someone we love.

It can decrease pain for the birther as well.

Oxytocin bonds us.

In this photo, you see Oxytocin being released while the parents share a passionate embrace and kiss, bringing their baby closer to their arms.

Romance and intimacy, is just as vital in birth, as it is in love making.

The remaining blood in a placenta cut immediately after birth. Delayed cord clamping ensures that the placenta can pulsate and pump the blood into baby through the umbilical cord. Stem cells and (on average) 30% of blood are lost when the cord is cut too soon. Did you practice delayed cord clamping when your baby was born?

DELAYED CORD CLAMPING
This is my husband cutting my daughter Luna's umbilical cord. Do you see how the cord is white and limp not one drop of blood is coming out? This was done about 60 minutes after she was born while she was breastfeeding.
Baby's blood is constantly circulating through the placenta to bring nutrients and oxygen to baby. By waiting to clamp you are allowing baby to have as much blood volume as possible. That means more red blood cells, stem cells and immune cells.
Research has found that when care providers delay clamping for just 3 minutes, the baby recieves higher levels of iron, which helps prevent anemia.
Most hospitals accommodate DCC, but often only if it is specifically asked for. Ask your provider about their position on delayed cord clamping. If they say "Oh yes, i always wait to cut the cord" then you know that it will most likely happen. If they seem hesitant or say something along the lines of "I guess we can do that as long as there is a reason not to" means you will probably need to have to keep a close eye and have your partner remind them after your baby is born. OBs often see so many clients that unless DCC is common practice for them they won't do it.
