In Pakistan almost 12 million people are suffering from hepatitis B or C with 150 000 new cases every year.

Our country ranks second globally in terms of hep C infections, with approx 1 in every 20 Pakistanis infected.

The annual mortality rate is 563,000 for Hep B and 366,000 for Hep C annually.

Prevention, screening and immunisation are vital steps in the management.
