♦️ In Thailand, evidence of massage has appeared since the Dvaravati period (5th - 15th Buddhist Century), which is a kingdom in Thailand with evidence of massage appearing in many places. Although there is not much historical evidence during this period, it is assumed that massage was part of people's lifestyles and has been passed down in the community for a long time. But in the past, there may not have been much record keeping.
Later, evidence of Thai Massage (Thai Traditional Massage) was rediscovered in the Ayutthaya period, which was the capital of Thailand in the past, and evidence of Thai massage that was discovered in the Ayutthaya period includes the reign of King Borom Trailokkanat, the reign of King Narai the Great and the reign of King Borommakot. Including records in the archives of Simon de La Loubère, the ambassador of King Louis XIV of France who traveled to Ayutthaya during the reign of King Narai the Great.
♦️ Currently, Thai Massage (Thai Traditional Massage) has been registered as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity from UNESCO on December 12, 2019.
