Our mission is to provide perfect protective packaging and first-class molded parts. For this purpose new, more sustainable raw materials are a great way to protect the environment and natural resources. This is why many of our products are made using recycled materials and can be recycled after use.

Just like our rEPS. It is made from a minimum of 95 percent recycled EPS/PS waste and up to 100 percent of this material can be used to make new protective packaging. rEPS retains the packaging properties of conventional EPS and is therefore ideally suited as transport packaging for sensitive products that require customized protection. As such, rEPS represents an exceptionally attractive solution for companies that wish to ship their goods precisely and safely while taking sustainability seriously.

In our "10 questions ..." series, employees from different areas of the company share insights into their everyday work.
Today, Heiko Peitzner tells us what drives him as a Sales Representative and what makes work at Storopack special for him.

1️⃣ Tell us about your job at Storopack.
I have been working in sales in Hamburg since 1997. I spent 23 years as a classic sales person in the field and for 4 years (2006-2010) I was responsible for the development of the sales department in Hamburg as Manager Field Sales. My main task is the acquisition of new customers as well as the daily and personal support of my customer base.

2️⃣ What does a typical working day look like?
A typical working day has changed a lot over these 27 years. At the beginning of my career, I was “on the road” about 3.5 to 4 days out of 5 working days a week. This means that I was only on site with my existing or potential customers. However, this is no longer the case nowadays for various reasons and is also not wanted by customers (due to lack of staff/time). I mainly have 1 to 3 appointments in the morning, then go to my home office, work on the appointments and then take care of acquiring new customers.

3️⃣ What do you particularly like about your role?
In field service, you are responsible for yourself and your actions. On the one hand, this is challenging, but on the other, you can make a strong contribution with your abilities, strengths and ideas and therefore also shape your working day.

4️⃣ What drives you to work in your area of responsibility?
Independent work, contact with people, fun in sales, great colleagues.

5️⃣ What qualities do you most often need at work and why?
Perseverance, because this is necessary to ultimately win an order or a new customer.
Discipline, as working from home severely limits social contacts and you always have to motivate yourself when things aren't going so well.
Self-confidence, always believing in yourself and your strengths.
Inner peace/balance as there are some things you can't change and you have to stay relaxed.
Quick-wittedness and humor are also good companions in communication.

6️⃣ What excites you most about Storopack as an employer?
The fact that you can build something long-term in a family-run traditional company.

7️⃣ If you had to describe Storopack in three words, which would it be?
Loyal, traditional, consistent.

8️⃣ What advice would you give young professionals in your job?
Only do the job if you enjoy selling and communicating with other people on a daily basis.

9️⃣ What can you definitely not go without in your work day?
The data in my computer, the support and trust of my managers, my nice colleagues, my company car, my mobile phone and my lunch :-)

🔟 What hobbies / things do you like to do that make you YOU?
I love soccer. Formerly as a player, now as a coach and spectator at many matches. I also enjoy fishing. For some time now, I've also been focusing a lot on inner contentment and health, so that I can enjoy life in a balanced way.

What does the PPWR mean for our packaging?

The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) will soon change the rules of the game. It is expected to apply in all 27 EU member states this year. The aim is to make packaging more sustainable and to minimize waste.

But what does it involve? The PPWR sets clear priorities:
✅ Packaging must be more recyclable and there are minimum standards for recyclability that must be met by 2030 and 2035.
✅ Recycled materials should be more integrated to reduce the use of virgin resources.
✅ Companies must take more responsibility in the supply chain to ensure that environmentally friendly practices are implemented.
✅ Packaging waste must be reduced, and the empty space inside the carton may not exceed 50%.
✅ Packaging must meet certain labeling standards and provide information on proper disposal.
✅ Reusable systems are encouraged, and by 2040, 70% of packaging should be reusable.

The impacts? Companies will need to rethink and adjust their packaging. However, some rules are not yet final and will be clarified over the next three years.
Yet it’s clear: The PPWR brings changes. And companies that act early are clearly at an advantage. 👍

Increased demand and limited space - we have the solution for that ✨

❓Our client Perschmann wanted to expand his logistics capacities due to high demand. Simultaneously they were looking for a new protective packaging solution that would
securely protect the shipping goods and be seamlessly and ergonomically incorporated within the existing packing stations.

💡 The solution: Expanding the packing stations from 18 to 24 and developing a solution with PAPERplus® Track paper cushions to increase capacity while optimally using the limited space. ✅

Because of its compact size, PAPERplus® Track can be seamlessly integrated into the logistics processes: it is mounted on a mobile frame beneath each packing station.The small machine separates the individual cushions using knife-free technology, which helps to improve workplace safety. PAPERplus Track is also easy to use: Its volume can be individually configured and thanks to the fast and straightforward process changing paper is easy.
Additionally, Perschmann uses PAPERbubble®, the eco-friendly alternative to conventional air bubble film, to wrap and cushion extra delicate products. This protective packaging, made of paper in combination with air, is 100 percent recyclable and reliably protects measuring instruments and tools, reducing the use of primary raw materials and fossil resources.

👉 The result: PAPERplus® Track in combination with PAPERbubble® ensures all products are well protected in transit. This new solution enables Perschmann to dispatch 2,500 packages a day. Thanks to the smart integration of the machine the employees are able to produce the paper cushions they need in the limited space available at the packing station while working ergonomically 👍

AIRplus® Bio Home Compostable: eco-friendly packaging with responsibility!

Our AIRplus® Bio Home Compostable air cushions meet the high standards of protection and sustainability. The film is partly made of starch, a renewable resource, and is both bio-based and compostable in one.

What's special? The film is TÜV Austria certified. This means that consumers can simply dispose of the air cushions on their home compost. There, they turn into a natural, non-toxic biomass that is harmless to plants and worms.
This makes it a solution that reduces plastic waste and closes the natural cycle. Additionally, the film provides reliable protection for light to medium-weight products during transport.

Styropor® entsorgen und dabei auf die Umwelt achten.

Styropor® richtig zu entsorgen ist entscheidend, damit es optimal verwertet werden kann. So kann Styropor® nach dem Recycling zu neuen Verpackungs- oder Isolierelementen verarbeitet werden – das schont Ressourcen und unterstützt Nachhaltigkeit.

Styropor® begegnet uns täglich: als Verpackung für Arzneimittel, als Isolierung in Häusern oder als Transportschutz für Lebensmittel. Doch wohin damit, wenn es nicht mehr gebraucht wird? Das regelt in Deutschland die Verpackungsverordnung.
Styropor® gehört nämlich nicht immer in den gelben Sack. Tatsächlich kommt es auf die Verwendungsart an. Je nachdem, ob das Styropor® als Baumaterial, Verpackung oder zu Transportzwecken genutzt wurde, muss es auf unterschiedlichen Wegen entsorgt werden.
Hier sind einige Tipps zur richtigen Entsorgung:

Verpackungsmaterial aus Styropor®
Styropor®, das als Verpackung genutzt wurde – etwa für Elektrogeräte oder Lebensmittelboxen – gehört in die Gelbe Tonne oder den Gelben Sack. So gelangt das Material wieder in den Kreislauf und wird erneut nutzbar.
Außerdem nimmt Storopack deine gebrauchten Styropor-Verpackungen wieder zurück.

Baustoffe und Dämmmaterial mit HBCD
Styropor®, das als Dämmplatte mit Flammschutzmittel (HBCD) vor 2016 verbaut wurde, muss auf den Wertstoffhof. Hier gibt es gesonderte Behälter für diese Art von Abfall, damit es fachgerecht recycelt werden kann.

Verarbeitetes Styropor®
Wenn das Styropor® nicht sortenrein verwendet worden ist, sondern Teil eines Produkts (z.B. Fahrradhelm) ist, gehört es in den Restmüll. Die Restmülltonne ist auch die erste Wahl bei kleinteiligen oder schmutzigen Styropor®-Produkten.

Große Mengen Styropor®
Handelsübliche Mülltonen, ob Gelber Sack oder Restmülltonne, sind mit größeren Mengen Styropor® schnell überfordert. In diesem Fall ist es sinnvoll, das Styropor® direkt auf dem Wertstoffhof abzugeben.
