It may seem strange to some of you that I would bring up mental health awareness. It would be easy to simply connect it to my products by saying that aromatherapy is a natural and holistic way of improving your mental and emotional well-being, which is true, and I will certainly shed some light on how certain essential oils could help.
However, mental health is a topic which is also personally important to me.
Nobody thinks twice when talking about physical illnesses like cancer, heart attack, stroke, diabetes etc. but there is sadly still shame in suffering from depression, phobias, panic attacks, anxiety.. Those of you who have any of these will know what I mean. It is not something you feel comfortable talking about and you try to hide it for fear of being judged, of people thinking you’re weak or crazy. The sad thing is, the more you fear and hide this, the worse the symptoms get.
Furthermore, being mentally healthy to me also means being healthy and strong enough in your mind to believe in yourself, to feel confident of who you are, to acknowledge and accept your imperfections and still love yourself for everything that you are, that every scar, be it physical, mental or emotional, has made you more resilient, stronger and wiser, and also more empathetic towards others.
That’s why I’m talking about mental health this month. I’m no mental health expert and will certainly not be dishing out mental health advice, but I hope that in my own small way, I could help in chipping off some of the stigma which surrounds mental health. I hope you will join me these next weeks and perhaps, even share some of your stories 🧡
