"One day in clinic, I had this very quiet lady. She just sat there, nodding politely as I explained everything. I thought, ‘Ah, this is my easiest patient today. No drama, no complaints, no twenty questions. God has remembered me!’

But ehn, the shock came later. I heard from her cousin that she went home and said: ‘That doctor! She didn’t even let me talk. She was just talking, talking, talking like a radio with new batteries!’ 🤦🏾‍♀️

I had to laugh. Because truly, in our African homes, the quiet ones are the ones you must fear. They won’t argue with you in the moment — they’ll just go home and give full commentary like a football match. ⚽😂

Since that day, I learned my lesson: even when a patient is quiet, you must pause and say, ‘Madam, please, talk your own. My mouth is not the only one here.’ Otherwise, you will think everything went well, meanwhile, in the village WhatsApp group, you are trending for the wrong reasons!"
