If you're frequently fatigued without an obvious reason why, despite doctors' visits and various tests, you may find answers in this very clear and accessible book.

Women's breathing and women's sleep are different from men's, but typically, any tests, eg, sleep tests, measure all patients according to a male template and women are getting routinely missed and even misdiagnosed. Breathing retraining will be at least part of the answer, which is good news because it's doable and all the effects (including 'side' effects) are positive.

Did you know that the hormone progesterone is a respiratory stimulant? In other words, it causes faster breathing.

When progesterone levels are high, this can have a marked effect on someone whose breathing may already be faster than ideal. The brain may perceive this faster breathing to indicate that the body is under threat and it initiates a stress response.

This can have knock-on effects
➡️ poor sleep
➡️ anxiety
➡️ increases pain perception
➡️ brain fog

Oddly, though, how a woman is breathing is mostly overlooked when presenting with some of the aforementioned symptoms.

Annette Henry will cast more light on this whole area in her forthcoming online workshop "The Breath-Hormone Connection" on Sunday 8th March. She will explain how mastering the way you breathe, both in the moment and as a matter of course, can result in improved sleep, more calm and more joy in your life.

When this happens, the brain has a tendency to perceive that the body is under threat and initiates a stress response which for many will result in poorer sleep, feelings of anxiety and a loss of focus and the ability to concentrate.

Women are particularly affected by this, and especially at certain times of their life cycle, and yet this is mostly overlooked when presenting with some of the aforementioned symptoms.

In this 90 minute online workshop 'The Breath - Hormone Connection', Annette Henry will cast more light on this whole area and show how mastering the way you breathe both in the moment and as a matter of course can result in improved sleep, more calm and more joy in your life.

Did you know that women breathe differently from men and this can have an influence on physical and mental wellbeing at different stages of their life?

For a long time after discovering the healing benefits of whole foods (see the About Annette on our website), I thought I'd discovered the secret to good health despite some persistent health challenges. Nowadays, I'm no less impressed with the potential for whole plant foods to support and transform our physical and mental health, but I now know that it's part of a kind of jigsaw and for years I was missing other pieces, one of them a big one.

I typically eat 3 times a day, so with that frequency, it makes absolute sense to learn to love the foods that help me to thrive.

But I'd completely overlooked breathing, which, if I'm like the average person, I do 20,000 a day! With THAT frequency, moment by moment, I want my breathing to keep me well oxygenated, to help me to sleep, and to keep me as calm and resilient as possible. I have good reason to suspect that for a long time, my breathing was having the opposite effects.....all of them.
