Dear members of the IAPR

On 23 May 2025, Bernard Spilka, one of the defining forces in the psychology of religion passed away. He would have been 99 years old this coming August 12th. A colleague, mentor and friend to a huge array of scholars, he is deeply missed already.

Bernard Spilka, educator, scholar, mentor and researcher, died on May 23, 2025 with his devoted wife and family by his side. He is remembered as a giant in the psychology of religion emphasizing empirical thinking. Born in the Bronx, New York, he joined the Army Air Force in 1945 as a medic. Bernie....

For any professors or post-doc researchers who follow this page, please read the below if you are interested. Here is the exact wording of their research invitation:

"Are you a psychology professor or postdoctoral researcher working at a university? If yes, we are interested in your opinions! Please consider signing up for a 15-minute online survey. Your participation would be a huge help to us!

We are carrying out research into how people in academia perceive research and scholars from other disciplines. The first part of the study consists of quick verification questions; upon confirming your eligibility, we will email you a separate link for the main study.
