EWG’s 2024 Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides has recently been released ! The EWG has tested 46 fruits and vegetables for pesticide residue, and here's the results:

The Clean Fifteen (lowest amounts of pesticide residues)

🍓Strawberries
🥬Spinach
🥬Kale, collard, and mustard greens
🫐Grapes
🍑Peaches
🍐Pears
🍊Nectarines
🍏Apples
🫑Bell and hot peppers
🍒Cherries
🫐Blueberries
🫛Green beans

The Dirty Dozen (12 fruits and vegetables most contaminated with pesticides)

🥑Avocados
🌽Sweet corn
🍍Pineapple
🧅Onions
🥭Papaya
🥒Sweet peas (frozen)
🍆Asparagus
🥭Honeydew melon
🥝Kiwi
🥦Cabbage
🍉Watermelon
🍄Mushrooms
🥭Mangoes
🥔Sweet potatoes
🥕Carrots

Now, while I believe all fruits and vegetables should be bought organic, realistically, not everyone can afford it. So what can you do if you can not afford to buy only organic produce?

With these 2 lists in mind,you can make the best choices on which foods you can save on and which you should rather buy organic .

This is especially important for small children who are very sensitive to pesticides and have the most effect from exposure to them.

Seems in December the chocolate doesn't stop coming..

In Germany, we have just had St. Nicholas day, and that means the kids have been given way too much chocolate.

So here's an idea 💡

1. it's a great activity to do together with your kids

2. they get to eat more than just chocolate

win win.. 😉

Melt the chocolate, dip in the tangerine (or naatjie as we would say in Sout Africa 🤭), and sprinkle on some crushed nuts !
