Happy eclipse season! We have been soaking up the energy leading up to this wonderful day. What is eclipse season? It’s a few weeks each year (often twice) when solar and lunar eclipses happen close together.

Why do I like eclipse season? Because Eclipses usher in turning points…endings, revelations and beginning that can feel fated. Even if you don’t „believe“ in astrology, eclipses offer a portal to connect with nature and yourself.

Today in Europe we are ushering in a lunar eclipse and in my personal practice and that which I share with others, we turn to the lunar eclipse to highlight emotional release, awareness and closure.

In the times of solar eclipse I like to draw attention to new starts, where are seeds being plants and fresh direction.

Eclipses hold the power to stir big energy. Instead of pushing through, perhaps take a few moments to notice what’s shifting in your heart, body and mind. Even if you don’t have the big view and show today, take time to turn your head to the sky and just know it is happening- spending time outdoors connects you to the rhythm of nature and in turn your own natural rhythms.

Catch you outside later! From our feet deep in the dirt of the earth to yours, we are part of a larger rhythm and connected together

Happy Eclipse season! 🌝🌚🌝🌚

Grief is hard. No way of sugar coating it.

I started working in grief out of tragedy and necessity. In 2014, my lacrosse teams and community, suffered some devastating losses….one of my co-coaches, friends, colleagues and local police officer, Steve Arkell died suddenly in the line of duty, of fatal gunshot wounds. Both he and his daughters were active and key figures in our lacrosse community- it shattered us.

Mere months later, our local community was again rocked when our goalie, Emma Jacobs, a wonderful hard working, driven, 17 year year old high school senior, who I had been working with since she was a small girl- watching grow up and with dreams of playing college lacrosse, experienced a tragic car accident ending her life.

Our community was again rocked. I was personally rocked. Emma was one of my first and closest goalies. The pain cut deep and was experienced in different physical forms from many. We became a community of fractured hearts, moving through the fog of memorial services, memory runs and vigils.

We learned together that grief, like lacrosse, requires:
1. Protective gear (boundaries)
2. Stick skills (communication tools)
3. Endurance training (self-care rituals)

Grief, like lacrosse, is this sacred interplay of defense and offense—guarding against isolation while advancing toward hope. Grief confronts us to face our shadows, to pivot through denial and anger like dodging defenders, and to pass the ball of memory even when our hands shake.

Grief work builds strength through shared vulnerability, transforming fractured hearts into mosaics of survival.

Grief is not about winning but learning to play the long game—where every string through sorrow, every strategic timeout for breath, and every huddle of shared silence becomes part of rebuilding a life that honors both loss and love.

Lupine is a gorgeous spring flower that is native in my area. It loves cool springs, grows well in poor soil and is one of my favorites inspiring joy with its whimsical shape! It’s also SO loved by pollinators offering a welcome place to invite more to your garden 🐝 pollinators are one of my favorite places to honor that reciprocal relationship with nature

It’s so rewarding to work directly with people. I’m invited daily into people’s lives and homes - holding space and building capacity in many ways. I’ve always loved the title of „helper“ and hold that as priority in my work as a psychologist focusing on health and well-being coaching. I’ve had a busy few months with direct client work, presentations and webinars with leading companies and health care groups! Sharing some of the feedback and wins from my wonderful clients.

Thanks for letting me support you on this journey. 🤗✨

„Joy and pain can exist together. One doesn’t cancel the other out. You can be hopeful and hurting, grateful and grieving, healing and haunted. Both can have their place as emotional agility grows in the soil of contradiction.“ ✨

In our modern world, it can feel hard to tap into joy. With the constant connectivity of negative world news, many of us are conditioned to believe emotions and situations must be “either/or” — that grief overshadows gratitude, or healing erases scars.

But what if we allowed ourselves to hold space for all of it?
To laugh fully while carrying sorrow, to feel gratitude even when hope feels fragile?

True resilience is found in this in-between, where contradictions breathe together and teach us to soften instead of shut down. Life’s deepest wisdom lives in the “and,” not the “or.” To hold both is to be fully human.

It’s not about fixing or flattening our experiences, but letting them coexist: the ache of loss alongside the warmth of connection, the fear of uncertainty flirting with curiosity for what’s next, the new parent filled with love yet conflicted with wanting to return to work, the friends valuing social connection yet choosing a night in because of exhaustion- is it in this conflict of values we discover our place for „and“.

When we stop forcing emotions into neat boxes, we discover that joy isn’t a destination — it’s a practice of presence, a choice to cherish tiny sparks even in the darkest seasons. Our culture demands we “choose a lane,” but wholeness lives in the “and.” When we stop forcing emotions to duel, we discover their synergy: Grief roots us. Joy propels us. Together, they help us grow in all directions.

Embracing the duality of Pink this Equinox 🌸✨🍂

As I celebrate the fall equinox, the color pink emerges as a beautiful symbol of balance and duality. Not typically a color of fall, lacking the oranges and browns of the harvest time, I still find pink to be just like the season itself- gracefully transitioning from the warmth of summer to the cool embrace of autumn. Pink embodies both warm and cool tones. This unique balance of cool and warmth reflects the harmony we can find in nature during this time of the year- a gentle reminder that even as we face change, we can embrace both joy and sorrow, warmth and chill.

I invite you to let this vibrant hue inspire you to reflect on balance in your own life as you navigate this transitional time of nature. Consider a personal journey or transformation you’ve undergone or are currently going through. How has this journey mirrored your shifting colors, temperature and energy? What aspects of warmth and coolness can you incorporate into your daily life to foster this transition?
Let the spirit of pink guide you through this season of change! 🌸🎊🌺

This echinacea flower knows a profound secret: to be imperfect is to be beautifully alive, authentic, and whole. 🌺🌸🌺

What is perfection? Is it truth? It is an illusion? Is it a sterile mirage that fades at first glance?

What do we find in the quirks? The empty spaces? The scars? The so-called defects? For it Is in these „imperfections“ that which breathes soul into our existence.

This beautiful coneflower shines in its uniqueness. Colors radiating. Missing petals. Textures slapping. Letting itself be, in all of its’ light.

Can you embrace your own imperfections?
The quirky laugh that brings joy? The scar that hints of a battle survived?

In its imperfect glory, this beautiful blossom reminds us to love ourselves fully. To let our true colors shine without apology or shame.

For it is in the rich tapestry of our flaws that the greatest beauty resides unfurling our authentic selves to the world, gloriously imperfect. 🌸🌺🌸

Welcome the final full moon of 2023. The December full moon’s popular name, the Cold Moon, is a Mohawk name, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac. Other names include the Long Night Moon (a reference to the solstice — the longest night of the year), Drift Clearing Moon, Hoar Frost Moon, Snow Moon and Winter Maker Moon.

As the Cold Moon shines bright in the sky, look within to discover your shadow side, the places within you that remain hidden from view. Shadows always appear behind a great light. To confront your shadows is to discover your own light.

Let the Cold Moon illuminate yourself. The wisdom that is unearthed in this stillness will be the fertile soil that will allow you to grow into the next season.

The next full moon will occur on Jan. 25, the Wolf Moon which will be the first of 12 full moons in 2024.
