vice members on behalf of their family. Military members can have peace of mind knowing that when they are on a mission, in training or stationed far from home-and leaving cell phones and emails behind-they are still connected to home. While providing service to 1.4 million active duty military personnel and their families, the Red Cross also reaches out to more than 1.2 million members of the National Guard and Reserves and their families living in nearly every community in America. Red Cross workers in hundreds of chapters and on military installations briefed 974,573 departing service members and their families regarding available support services, and explained how the Red Cross may assist them during the deployment. Both active duty and community-based military can count on the Red Cross to provide emergency communications that link them with their families back home, access to financial assistance in partnership with the military aid societies, information and referral and assistance to veterans. Red Cross personnel form a global network in 700 U.S. chapters, military installations worldwide and in forward deployed locations in Kuwait, Afghanistan and Iraq.

Small acts of kindness go a long way, and today was full of them. ⛑️✨ We started the morning with a Mindful Movement session, then got to work preparing and delivering “Snacks of Kindness” to locations across the Garrison. Volunteers also signed cards for service members and helped spread a little extra appreciation along the way.

Thank you to our volunteers who baked and delivered treats, to the Stuttgart High School Red Cross Club, and to every community member who donated items during our supply drive at the Panzer Commissary. A big thank you to D.O.W.E. Desert Of Western Europe for joining us today ready to serve our military community. ❤️

Because we don’t offer this class as often, we wanted to give it a little extra spotlight. ⛰️⛑️

Our Wilderness & Remote First Aid course is a great opportunity for anyone who spends time outdoors, travels, hikes, camps, or simply wants to feel more prepared when help may not be close by. Over three days, participants learn practical skills for handling situations in remote environments, where quick thinking and basic first aid knowledge can make a real difference.

It’s also a lot of value for the price—18€ for a full weekend of training is hard to beat.

Friday, Saturday & Sunday, May 1–3
Fri: 4:00–8:00 PM
Sat & Sun: 9:00 AM–5:00 PM

* Current CPR certification is required, and participants must be 14 or older by the end of the course.

Do you know how the dandelion became the symbol of military children?

In March 1998, a group of military-connected friends were in a chat group online discussing the kind of flower that best represented military children.

There were several suggestions, but then one participant wrote, “How about the dandelion? The plant puts down roots almost anywhere...It's a survivor in a broad range of climates.”

For these reasons and many more, we think the dandelion is the perfect representation of our military kids!

This Earth Month, and especially as we mark Earth Day on 22 April, we’re reminded that caring for our world also means caring for the people in it. 🌍❤️

Small acts of service can ripple outward in big ways, and volunteers are often at the heart of that impact. Whether they are supporting families, sharing preparedness information, helping at community events, or simply showing up where help is needed, their time and compassion help strengthen our communities every day.

This month, we’re celebrating the planet, the power of community, and the volunteers who help make positive change possible.

Join us tomorrow. 🚑 ⛑️ Looking forward to seeing all of you!
