No pain no gain...asmr treatment for my student

"Training is a promise. You trust that your partner won't hurt you, and you do so in return. Take things slow and practice them properly. It will do you no good to create bad habits by practicing improperly.
Just punch straight, and if your tori does not move at the right time and at the right distance, he will get hit. And you, as an uke, should not be afraid to be hit. There is no shame in being hit….In a real fight, you will be hit and you must not be shocked by contact. Being hit lets you know that you did something wrong and need to work on it until you get it right. Simply practice properly."

Everyone is studying Ninjutsu. Understand?

In essence, Ninjutsu ( 忍術 ) is the art of patience, perseverance, endurance and fortitude.
No matter what martial art style you practice, you are in truth, practicing Ninjutsu!

“Any place we can breathe, we can do Ninjutsu.” ..
宗家Hatsumi

In fact, it doesn’t even have to be a martial art, it can be music, painting, dancing, carpentry etc.
All of these arts require 忍耐力 [にんたいりょく (nintairyoku)] stoicism and patience to develop masterful skill and to enrich ones life and that of others. Life is Ninjutsu!

Unfortunately, people get too caught up with the past and the Ninjutsu attributed to feudal Japan. Those days are past. Now, practitioners study the historical arts as guiding principles and practices with a strong sense directed at personal development and cultural understanding ( Ninpō 忍法 ). Enthusiasts study the ancient ways and philosophical teachings that have stood the tests of time to find a positive path of personal growth.

Ninpō 忍法 (rules/law of perseverance) acts as a way for many to live by. Through practicing the old martial arts, people can find an enjoyable, culturally enriching way of developing and promoting a meaningful and productive lifestyle.

So in closing, if you don’t believe in Ninjutsu, then maybe you do not believe in persevering in your own life or your practice and study to improve yourself in mind, body and spirit? If so, you are still living in the past and therefore unfortunately captured by what your uninitiated, misguided or self ignorant belief of the art is.

Ninjutsu is beyond form or style. Ninjutsu is the very essence of nature. It’s teachings are for survival and living a purposeful life. Anything else is merely smoke and mirrors to teach you to look beyond the Kyo 虚( deception of worldly desires ) to the Jutsu 実( reality ). Practitioners of Ninjutsu understood the power and necessity of disguise and deception; the very requirements for survival against overwhelming odds. It’s not the strongest who survives, but the ones that understand nature and can adapt.

Those with the maturity, sensibility and correct open heart and mind will accept and live this path naturally.
This is Ninjutsu 忍術.

Was KI alles so hinbringt.... Macht echt Spaß damit zu spielen

At times during the USA Taikai, Nagato Sensei sat and received a variety of questions from students.
Each question simply returned to the idea of ‘not over thinking’ or rather, to develop ones patience and endurance to allow things to naturally unfold. As a result, the answers will come when the time is right. Rather than quieten the mind, trust the teachings and just practice to reveal the secrets, people seem to want to hear the answer without practicing hard to truly discover and understand it with their entire being. I sensed that having Gaman 我慢 or Nintai 忍耐 ( endurance, patience, self restraint/control ) was the overlying theme for the three days. Through the questions asked, it felt that this had yet to be really understood. Mysteriously, the Gokui written by sensei for the Taikai cleary expressed the need to relinquish oneself and have the patience to listen and accept the lessons from Kami 神.
Hatsumi Sensei’s passage below also gives an insight into this path of transcendence 自然の超越 to become closer and harmonise to the will of the natural world and universal process.

“When you feel like you are “stuck” (八方塞) in your life, you must remember that if you give up, you are finished. The important thing is, "don't think in your head, don't reject anything, rely on your senses and act with mushin”, you will surely find a path and you’ll be able to get through difficult situations. This is heijoushin.”

THE SENSEI

Every martial arts student needs to read this statement from Fumio Demura Sensei:

"The person you refer to as 'Sensei' is in that position for a valid reason. It seems today I hear a lot of former students or ex-black belts disrespecting their Sensei for a myriad of reasons. In order to better help you understand why a Sensei deserves, or let me put it a better way, demands your respect let me lay it out for you.

The Sensei is the one who has dedicated their life to the art they teach you. You will never have as many years of dedication in because you came after them.

The Sensei is the one who spent many days and nights opening their dojo, cleaning it, making it better…for YOU.
The Sensei is the one who has made sacrifices you will never understand just so you have a place to train, to learn and gain in your art.

The Sensei is the one who, often at great costs, has given up their free time, their family time…time they could be out doing many other things just so you can learn and train.

The Sensei is the one who has invested thousands of dollars in their own training just to learn how to teach you properly.

The Sensei is the one who has often broken bones, but still showed up to teach class. Torqued muscles, tendons and had strains but still showed up to teach class. Had a migraine, was sick, had a bad day…but still showed up to teach class. All these things are excuses why you miss class.

The Sensei often goes without so that the dojo and students will be taken care of. This means they give up having nice things at times, vacations, going out to dinner, hanging out with friends and family…all so you can learn Karate.

The Sensei has spent more time in a dojo than most of you that train with them have been alive.

The Sensei is the one who is always there for your training…
The Sensei quite often sees a need and fills a need for their students. They see that poor kid who has little of anything and needs sparring gear and they just go ahead and get it for them. They see the student who is struggling to come up with funds to buy their own weapons for Kobudo and just buys extras so they can participate. They see their adult students losing their jobs and says “Don’t worry about paying til you’re caught up”. This is the role the Sensei plays and it demands respect.

I can sit here and think of a thousand more reasons why you should never, ever disrespect your Sensei too…but, in all honesty, I shouldn’t have to. I shouldn’t have had to even write this blog…but, then again, people live in a shallow world these days. Perhaps we should step out of it, be bigger and better, and then the world will change.

Respect your Sensei, take care of your Sensei, honor your Sensei…because, one day, your Sensei will no longer be around."

- Fumio Demura
