I love the peepal trees! Here in Mysore I have discovered some of them .
What is a peepal tree?
Peepal tree also called Sacred Fig, Ficus religiosa has a very sacred meaning in Hinduism and can be seen mostly behind a temple. It’s associated with Lord Vishnu, Shiva, and Buddha. Sacred threads can be tied around the tree for rituals or while making a wish or vow. Women may tie threads for family well-being or childbirth. A wife can tie a thread around the tree wishing a long life for her husband during marriage ceremony.
I also found the snake statues around the tree which are considered as guardians of sacred places. The statue warns people not to cut or harm the tree.
Very meaningful and inspiring place 🩷
