From my favourite book (swipe right for title):

“There are only two castes” he would say: “Men and women.” And he gradually came to regard women as the superior, at least in terms of Yogic practice.

It was my mother who helped me in understanding the significance of Vedic recitation. It was she who could relate to me the things that are needed for each and every ritual.
In education, food also plays a role. When I received my first food from my mother, she not only gave me food but also gave all necessary information about the value of food, what food is good and what food is harmful.
This is how I was first initiated into Yoga by my parents ... in the daily ritual of taking food. In this context, Yoga means to join. Something outside joins in me, whether it is mother’s milk or the food we take”.

Last day practice with Mamaji at KPJAYI shala!
I will miss the peaceful daily practice in the shala.
I practiced here for more than 1,5 months. Usually a started the practice at 5:45 and finished at 7:45.
Today on my last day I caught my heels in Kapo which was mind blowing for me. I have been struggling with this asana for many years and today it went with ease.
I was happy like child getting a treat for good achievements 🙈.
After Mysore is before Mysore actually since I have already planned my next trip. So see you soon here.
I will be missing you a lot 🩷🇮🇳

What is Yoga?
According to sutras Yoga is the ability to direct the mind exclusively toward an object and sustain that direction without any distraction.

It’s being focuses, one-pointed.

The “object” can be a thing, it can be also “anything” that the mind engages, including knowledge, art, cosmos, God. This is why we use the tools like Asana or Pranayama to practice being one-pointed - focused on breath or our body. The form doesn’t matter but the result of practice matters.

Practice and all is coming!

Ashtanga Yoga has changed many (unhealthy) habits of mine without me wanting it. This is the beauty of the practice: there is no tension or pressure to change something - it comes naturally - at least this happened and is still happening to me…
Your perception will become more subtle - suddenly you will feel every cell of your body, you will start observing your mind, you will realise how important it is to have a good sleep and sattvic nutrition. Maybe your friends circle and relationships will change, your interests will transform.
Why? Because yoga is about self knowledge. Yoga helps us to find our true self and sharpens our senses and intuition. For this I am grateful that yoga was given to me.

Tomorrow we are having a full moon. We can admire the full expression of the moon on the sky. But we can only see it because of the sun 🌞 The moon itself doesn’t shine (as you know 🙈) but the sun illuminates it. We can compare Atman to the sun to illustrate its eternal, unchanging, and illuminating nature.
It represents the source of all light, life, and consciousness.
It gives us light to destroy the darkness of ignorance and to reveal the truth and inner wisdom.

Satya comes to my mind all the time in recent days.

What is Satya?

Satya is the second Yama and doesn’t only mean “not lying”. It means living in alignment with your own true nature, the ultimate truth and reality.
What is my true nature - Atman? It’s a deep and timeless question. I am still on the path to really see it and understand it. We are so busy with “becoming” and don’t see the “being” which is always here and waiting for us to stop “becoming”.
If we start seeing our beautiful and perfect being which lives inside our heart, the pressure of becoming will go away and the inner freedom (moksha) will occur.

Namaste🙏

I love the KPJAYI Shala - you can feel the tradition of ashtanga yoga with all your senses.
I feel very honoured to be able to practice here and to evolve on my ashtanga yoga path.
Sometimes I cannot believe that I can study with the daughter and grand-daughter of Pattabhi Jois.
Thank you 🙏🩷

Ohh India! Ohh Mysore!
This is my third time in Mysore and every time I come back to India I have a transformative experience. The yoga practice makes me tired and sorrow but at the same time joyful and fulfilled. I understand that sorrow is a part of our lives and it will be always there.
Sorrow and joy are twin pilgrims, walking together through every heart🩷

Under the gentle glow of the August full moon, may the sacred thread of RAKSHA BANDHAN weave love, protection, and cherished memories between you and your sibling - shining as timelessly as the moonlight itself.

Today we celebrate Raksha Bandhan - this is a special Hindu festival which is celebrated to symbolize the love between a brother and a sister.
Raksha means “protection” and Bandhan means “bond” or “tie.”
Traditionally, a sister ties a rakhi (a decorative thread or bracelet) around her brother’s wrist, symbolizing her prayers for his well-being.
In return, the brother gives a gift and promises to protect and support her.
But it is celebrated not only for siblings but also for cousins, close friends and all who are important for one.

“Raksha Sutra Bandhanam, Sneha Prema Sada Vardhatam.”
(“May this thread of protection keep our bond of love and affection ever growing.”)

What may seem rigid is actually a container for devotion. The repetition becomes ritual. Ashtanga Yoga teaches that freedom is found not in constant variety, but in returning - again and again - to yourself. It’s yoga that meets you where you are, but doesn’t leave you there. For this I love Ashtanga Yoga🩷
