Samuel Volery is walking on the longest Highline ever rigged in the World (1140m)
Samuel Volery - Slackliner and his team went to Todra Gorge – a huge canyon in Morocco - to rig the longest highline that has ever been rigged in the world. After only 2 days of rigging the 1140m long and 300m high line (rigged on SLACKTIVITY – Half-Marathon) was installed.
One day later Sam was the first who was allowed to set his foot on this amazing line. In windy conditions – sometimes he was blown sideways by 30m, he almost got the on-sight send. But 200m from the end, where the line was already extremely steep, he couldn't hold it anymore and fell.
Of course the whole team was convinced that after such a strong run in changing conditions it was just a matter of time that the world record would be broken. But one hour later a thunderstorm arrived and in heavy rain the line got burned and destroyed by electrostatic loading. According to the locals it was the first real thunderstorm in this half-desert in the last 5 years! So the session was over before it had even really started and Dan who also had ambitions to cross the line didn't even get the chance to do so...
Stay tuned for the second part of the story and a teaser coming out soon!
