𝑻𝘩𝓮 𝓢𝙖𝙘𝙧𝙪𝗺 - A powerhouse of cranio-sacral energy!
The sacrum (as the name cranio-sacral therapy suggests) is fundamental to cranio-sacral work. The free mobility of the sacrum is essential to the fluent expression of inherent vitality and consequently to the health and well-being of an individual.
The sacrum is particularly susceptible to injury, partly because of its position, carrying the weight of the body above and receiving a great deal of physical trauma - falls on the buttocks, sports injuries, giving birth and day to day activities.
Injuries to the sacrum can be responsible for many of the common symptoms of low back pain and sciatica, together with various other pelvic disorders (particularly following childbirth). This can be attributed in part to pressures and strains on the sacral nerves which emerge from the foramina within the sacrum.
Disturbances to the sacrum can also be associated with symptoms anywhere in the body - headache, neck pain, digestive disorders - as a result of imbalances at this crucial area reflected through the rest of the body.
But perhaps most significant are the effects of sacral restriction and imbalance on the system as a whole, on the flow of inherent vitality - which in turn undermines the patient's ability to resolve the underlying causes of any and all symptoms and conditions.
Our primary concern as practitioners, is, as always, the quality and potency of the underlying vitality, so while we will of course address the symptoms of low back pain and so on, at the heart of the treatments process is the need to restore underlying vitality, so that the healing process can be not merely symptomatic, but long lasting and more profoundly far- reaching.
Restoration of free mobility of the sacrum is fundamental to this.💫.
