As the Advanced Study program of Ulm University, we have educated and are still educating people in health care from all over the world who are dedicated to cancer care and becoming better oncology professionals. Each one of our students and alumni is unique in their own path to oncology, to our study program, with our study program and beyond the study program. We think that this diversity enriches not only our and their professional outlook but ultimately makes us appreciate the uniqueness of any human encounter more.

This is why we fully endorse today's slogan of United by Unique - we all feel that and we live it in our daily professional lives.

And if alumn and scientific director happen to teach (and learn) more resilience, this is just one of the differences we can make in our professional environment.

Application deadline for the Advanced Oncology study program is May 15.

If you are interested, you should start now with the application process. Applicants with a non-German first degree should use the uni-assist portal to upload their documents whereas applicants with a German degree should use HIS portal. Caveat: The HIS portal will be down for maintenance from April 23 until May 7 at the latest. Hence: Start now.

Our applicants often ask whether the M.Sc. degree will help them to advance their careers.

This is why we share the results of our alumni surveys. These data spotlight 1-4 years after graduation. Many of our earlier graduates have advanced even more in their careers, i.e. they were appointed as regular professors, they may have opened their own outpatient clinic, were promoted to higher positions within their companies.

The Deutscher Krebskongress in Berlin is a great opportunity to catch up with long-term acquaintances.

Thank you Manuela Hoechstetter and Michael Sandherr for stopping by and helping at the booth.

Dr. Hoechstetter (middle) is a lecturer of our study program. She served as its Medical Director from 2010 until 2012 and is serving now a lecturer for CLL.

Dr. Sandherr (right) is - like Dr. Hoechstetter - a trained hemato-oncologist, an alumn and now a lecturer for supportive care on top of many functions on the local, regional and national level.

Dr. Schmidt-Strassburger (left) is a biochemist and has been serving as Scientific Director of the study program for 12 years now.

We exchanged ideas with Tina Seufert, Melina Klepsch and Susanne Hummel of the School of Advanced Professional Studies (SAPS) and gained new perspectives.

This is the first of a new series of flyers of the study program and the online modules contained therein, which you may book individually now. This flyer is about the module "Clinical research". In addition to all content necessary to obtain a GCP certificate you may study biometry and project management intensively and practice scientific thinking, writing and literature search in different workshops. This offer includes an individual online introduction (1 day), an asynchronous learning phase and an attendance week with many workshops in July.

As 2023 comes to an end, at the study program, we are grateful for having been able to
- conduct all attendance seminars in person this year,
- that our 2020 class finished the study program very successfully and
- that we were re-accredited as a study program for the second time.
