Today I facilitated a workshop on Emotional Agility for a group of inspiring HKU students, where we explored how building emotional skills can support our growth, well-being, and success in the future of work.
This topic means a lot to me, personally.
Back in university, I went through a period of depression. It was a time when I felt stuck, lost, and alone, and I didn’t know how to talk about it or ask for help.
That experience made me realize how important it is to make mental health support more accessible, especially for young people. That’s why I do what I do now.
And to be honest, even today, I still face my own challenges.
Growing up, I’ve always felt nervous speaking English in public. I still do. But I show up anyway, not because it’s easy, but because it matters to me.
That’s what Emotional Agility is about.
It’s not about avoiding stress, fear, or self-doubt. It’s about learning to face those emotions with compassion, and still take action based on your values.
I was especially touched by the moment when everyone was writing a letter to their future self — with so much honesty and heart. It reminded me how powerful it is to pause and connect with what really matters inside.
We all go through difficult moments.
Not because we’re weak, but because we’re human. This is life. And that’s why emotional agility matters.
Thanks to everyone who joined the workshop today. And if you’re going through something — I hope you can give yourself a little kindness. You’re not alone. You’re doing better than you think. 💛
