BELLEVUE CASTLE BERLIN: „GESUNDHEIT IST CHEFSACHE“ = and overall "HEALTH is a CEO-Matter" - central part of value-based hippocratic Leadership:

Germany’s Federal President holds a unique constitutional role: independent, unifying, and empowered to set the moral tone of the Republic. From Bellevue Castle, the office provides a platform not for day-to-day governance, but for societal leadership. This is precisely where Germany and Europe are currently falling short. While health systems strain and demographic pressures grow, no senior figure is visibly championing Healthspan Medicine or the emerging Healthspan Economy.

The President could and should raise his voice and make “Health is a Leadership Duty” a national and European priority. Within the constitutional mandate to inspire, convene, and guide public debate, the President is uniquely positioned to inject long-term thinking into health policy, economic strategy, and prevention culture.

A modern interpretation of the Hippocratic responsibility applies not only to clinicians but to all who bear responsibility for the public good. By embracing this role, the President can provide the moral and strategic counterweight needed to address today’s leadership gap in Germany and the EU.

Ardem Patapoutian – awarded the 2021 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine – was born in 1967 in Beirut, Lebanon. In his youth, he moved from a war-torn Beirut to Los Angeles, USA and subsequently received a PhD in 1996 from Caltech, Pasadena, USA.

Today Patapoutian is a scientist at Scripps Research, La Jolla, California in the field of touch - specifically determining just how receptors in our body respond to pressure. His discovery of a novel class of pressure sensors has given us new insight into our bodies, and led to him receiving the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

“GESUNDHEIT ist CHEFSACHE” = CEO-Sache - Prof. Dr. Heyo Kroemer – Leadership & Charité (Kurzfassung)

Prof. Dr. Heyo Kroemer ist seit September 2019 CEO (Vorstandsvorsitzender) der Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, einer der renommiertesten Universitätskliniken weltweit. Die Charité wird regelmäßig in internationalen Rankings, u. a. von Newsweek, unter den Top 10 der besten Krankenhäuser der Welt geführt und gilt als führende europäische Klinik mit herausragender Exzellenz in Forschung, Lehre und Patientenversorgung.

Vor seiner Tätigkeit an der Charité war Prof. Kroemer Vorstandssprecher und Dekan der Universitätsmedizin Göttingen. Zuvor wirkte er als Dekan der Medizinischen Fakultät der Universität Greifswald sowie als Wissenschaftlicher Vorstand der Universitätsmedizin Greifswald und hatte den Lehrstuhl für Allgemeine Pharmakologie inne.

Nach seinem Pharmaziestudium an der TU Braunschweig und der Promotion absolvierte er internationale Forschungsaufenthalte an der Universität Basel und der Vanderbilt University, habilitierte sich an der Universität Tübingen und folgte einem Ruf als Professor für Klinische Pharmazie an die Universität Bonn.

Prof. Kroemer zählt zu den einflussreichsten Wissenschafts- und Gesundheitsmanagern Deutschlands. Er ist Vorsitzender des Hochschulrats der Technischen Universität München (TUM) sowie Mitglied renommierter wissenschaftlicher Akademien, darunter die Nationale Akademie der Wissenschaften Leopoldina und die Deutsche Akademie der Technikwissenschaften (acatech). Zudem war er Vorsitzender des Corona-Expertenrats der Bundesregierung.

Die CEO Leadership Series der Technischen Universität München am Campus Heilbronn ist die Flagship-Veranstaltungsreihe der TUM, die hochkarätige Führungspersönlichkeiten mit Studierenden zusammenbringt.
