Did you know that eating plenty of colourful fruits and vegetables will do marvels during and after your pregnancy?

Eating lots of green, red, orange, yellow, purple, and white fruits and vegetables ensures that you and your baby get a variety of nutrients as each colour group provides different vitamins and minerals.

Another advantage of eating across the fruit and veggie spectrum is that during the later stages of pregnancy, the baby 'tastes' the foods you eat through the amniotic fluid. So if you expose your baby to a variety of healthy fruits and vegetables in the womb, you'll increase the chance that your baby will recognize and accept those flavours later on.

So make sure to eat your 6 a day across the fruit and vegetable spectrum.

Craving sushi during pregnancy? Go right ahead! - and make sure to include salmon in your rolls and nigiri. Not only is salmon rich in high-quality protein, but it's also an exceptionally good source of omega-3 fats, which are good for your baby's development – and may help boost your mood.

Unlike swordfish, king mackerel, tilefish, and shark, salmon has low amounts of methylmercury, a compound that can be harmful to you and your baby's developing nervous system.

🍶🍶🍶🍶🍶🍶🍶🍶🍶🍶🍶🍶 Did you know that Greek yogurt typically has twice the protein of regular yogurt? That makes it one of our favourite pregnancy foods.

However, any kind of yogurt is a great source of calcium, which is vital in a pregnancy diet. If you don't take in enough calcium, the limited amount you have will go to your baby, depleting the calcium in your bones.
We'd love to help you make sure that you provide everything your baby needs without sacrificing your own health and nutrition. Calcium will help keep your own bones intact while laying down a healthy skeleton for your baby.

Are you getting your nuts & nut butters during your pregnancy?

Fat is critical for your baby's brain development and it also helps keep you fuller longer. Experts recommend replacing saturated fats (such as those found in meat and butter) with unsaturated, a form of heart-healthy fat found in nuts.

But because they are high in fat and calories, stick to 1-ounce servings of nuts and 2-tablespoon servings of nut butters.

It's amazing what you get in one egg for only about 75-90 calories!

Eggs are one of natures most perfect food, containing all the essential amino acids your body needs. They are also rich in choline, which promotes your baby's overall growth and brain health, while helping prevent neural tube defects.

In addition to more than 12 vitamins and minerals, eggs contain lots of quality protein, which is essential for pregnancy.

We love our eggs with whole grain bread important in pregnancy because of its high level of fiber and nutrients, including vitamin E, selenium, and phytonutrients (plant compounds that protect cells).

Did you know that recent studies suggest eating nuts during pregnancy prevents allergies in children? Basically, children could have a lower risk of developing a peanut allergy if their mothers eat more nuts in pregnancy, researchers claim.

Their study adds to growing evidence that eating nuts while expecting a baby has no damaging effect on the unborn child.

The findings showed children whose mothers ate peanuts or other nuts five times a week or more had the lowest risk of developing an allergy.

We took advantage of the great news and sprinkled nuts on top of our fruit and yogurt treat .
