🌱 Connectedness — Rooted in the Body, Expressed in the Heart
In Bodynamic Somatic Developmental Psychology, connectedness is not just a feeling — it is an embodied skill.
To truly feel connected with another while staying grounded in your own center is a vital human ability. It begins in the body’s core, in the fascia between the shoulder blades, the ligaments at the groin, the breath moving through the sternum.
From birth, our bodies learn the dance of “I am me, and I am with you.”
Whether through a gentle back touch, the sensation of breath under your hand at your sternum, or rocking the pelvis slowly — these movements remind the nervous system that connection is possible without merging or disappearing.
🌀 Connectedness is not fusion. It’s mutual presence.
It’s “I see you” without losing sight of “I am me.”
This is where bonding becomes a strength, not a trap — where intimacy meets individuality.
As therapists, practitioners, and humans, when we activate this skill in ourselves, we support clients and communities to come home to it too.
✨ Try this: Place your hand on your sternum. Breathe. Notice.
Do you feel the you within you… and your openness to the world around you?
From this place, we build a world rooted in dignity, safety, and genuine connection.
