There are so many different things that are affecting our health, in its wholeness.

We often forget about their importance.

We might often do a lot for our physical health but we have forgotten to take care of our other parts, our inner parts. And vice versa.

But the body, the mind, the heart and the soul act as one.

They affect and be affected by each other.

And, so, imbalances in any one of them are going to show in one way or another.

Symptoms are messages.

Can you recognise their cause?

According to the World Health Organisation, Cancer is the second leading cause of death globally, accounting for an estimated 9.6 million deaths, or 1 in 6 deaths, in 2018.

Lung, prostate, colorectal, stomach and liver cancer are the most common types of cancer in male bodies.

While breast, colorectal, lung, cervical and thyroid cancer are the most common among female bodies.

As we can understand, creating awareness around the subject of cancer and its prevention is something that can be of great help to all of us.

According to the last decades of scientific research on cancer and its causes:

only 5-10% of all cancer cases can be attributed to genetic defects, whereas the remaining 90-95% have their roots in the environment and lifestyle.

The lifestyle risk factors that play an important role in the development of NCDs/Lifestyle Diseases (as shared in a previous post) are:

- Unhealthy Diet
- Physical Inactivity
- To***co Use
- Alcohol Use
- Chronic Stress
- Disturbed Biological Clock.

It has been observed that these lifestyle factors, usually combined two or more together, in time lead to 4 key Metabolic/Physiological Changes, which can act as primary symptoms/conditions for the further development of NCDs.

These 4 key Metabolic Changes are:
1. Raised Blood Pressure
2. Overweight/Obesity
3. Raised Blood Glucose
4. Raised Cholesterol

Are you dealing with any of these currently?

Send me a message and let’s have a talk on what you can do to improve your health!

These are the lifestyle risk factors that, studies have shown, play a key role in the development of Lifestyle Diseases or NCDs (non-communicable diseases).

Lifestyle factors are the adaptable behaviors and ways of life that influence an individual’s heath and wellbeing.

They depend 100% upon our own decisions and that is why it is in our own hands to change them!! 🙌

In general, I would say that in these cases people have grown apart from the natural way of living as human being on earth!

Learn more about these factors and their meaning in the new article that I uploaded on my website!

You can find it here, or through the link in BIO.

What is a Lifestyle Disease?

Lifestyle Diseases characterise those diseases whose occurrence is primarily based on the daily habits of the people (aka their lifestyle) and are a result of an imbalanced relationship of the people with their environment.

The onset of these lifestyle diseases is insidious, they take years to develop and once encountered do not lend themselves easily to cure.

These illnesses use to be considered the diseases of industrialised countries, so called “Western Diseases” or “Diseases of Affluence”.

However, internationally they are known as non-communicable and chronic diseases, part of the degenerative diseases group.

These diseases can result in long-term health consequences and often create a need for long-term treatment and care, loss of independence, years of disability or death, and impose a considerable economic burden on health services.

Cancer is one of the 5 main categories of Lifestyle Diseases!

In my upcoming articles about Lifestyle Diseases, I am sharing with you the basic information and suggestions that everyone should be aware of and incorporate in their life in order to improve health, promote longevity and prevent these diseases!
