Today at my shop, Polly Wellness, I experienced something that I feel should be shared.🙌🏼
A young Russian woman came in after a bicycle accident. She was clearly in pain, very shaken, and close to tears. She explained that she had been riding correctly in her lane, with a green light, when a Danish man—cycling at high speed—collided with her.
Her bicycle was badly damaged. The wheel was completely broken.🥹
But what affected her the most was not only the accident itself.🥹
After the collision, the man became very angry and shouted at her in Danish. She did not understand what he was saying, which made the situation even more frightening for her. Instead of checking if she was okay or taking responsibility, he left the scene without helping.
She came to my clinic not only because of physical pain, but because she felt unsafe, confused, and alone.
In Denmark, cycling culture is something we are proud of. But with that also comes a shared responsibility—to look out for each other, to follow the rules, and to treat others with respect.
Accidents can happen. But leaving someone injured and frightened—especially a young person far from home—is not acceptable.
I am sharing this not to blame, but to remind all of us:
Kindness, accountability, and basic human decency should always come first.🩷
