International Women's Day! 🌟
Today, as we celebrate the incredible achievements and resilience of women worldwide, let's also take a moment to reflect on the theme set forth by the United Nations: "Count Her In: Accelerating Gender Equality Through Economic Empowerment."
Economic empowerment is not just about financial independence; it's about breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for women to thrive in all aspects of life. And when it comes to business and entrepreneurship, women's development plays a crucial role in driving progress towards equality.
But sadly, we must acknowledge the harsh reality that many women face economic violence in their own homes. This can manifest in various forms, including partners who withhold financial support or control access to resources, making it difficult for women to pursue their own paths, including accessing essential healthcare services.
As a pelvic floor physiotherapist, I've witnessed firsthand the impact of economic dependence on women's ability to prioritize their health and well-being. It's disheartening to see individuals unable to seek treatment because they lack the economic means or face resistance from their partners.
This International Women's Day, let's challenge ourselves to create a world where every woman has the economic freedom to make choices that benefit her health, happiness, and future. Let's stand in solidarity to dismantle systems of oppression and advocate for policies that promote economic empowerment and gender equality.
Together, let's empower women to take control of their lives, pursue their dreams, and break free from the chains of economic violence. Because when we invest in women, we're not just investing in individuals; we're investing in the collective prosperity of society.
So, let's count her in—let's accelerate gender equality through economic empowerment.
With hope and determination,
Pelvic Flow.
