Princess Isabella, the second child and oldest daughter of King Frederik 10. and Queen Mary, turns 18 years old today.

Like all the royal children, she was bestowed the Order of the Elephant at birth, but it is customary that they actually receive the insignia when turning 18.

His Majesty the King has established a new royal coat of arms by royal resolution of 20 December 2024. The King wishes, with changes to the royal coat of arms established in 1972, to create a contemporary royal coat of arms that both reflects the Commonwealth and takes into account history and heraldic tradition.

According to a recent survey, 80 percent of the population thinks that King Frederik 10 is a good king, and a majority thinks that he will fill the role as monarch as well as his mother Queen Margrethe II did. The younger people (18-35 years old) are the most doubtful when it comes to Frederik 10's ability as the monarch, but not to any great extend, and he is still quite popular with this demographic.
The queen abdicated January 14 this year, leaving the throne to her eldest son.

On this year's Black Friday, goods worth 1.2 billion kroner were purchased via the MobilePay payment service, compared to 920 million in 2023. This year, Black Friday coincided with payday, which may be part of the explanation for the record sales. In fact, it is the best sales weekend ever.

Overall, 1.8 million transactions were made on MobilePay during the day, which is 39% higher than the previous year.

The most popular product categories are toys, electronics, clothing, beauty products and household appliances.

The age group 47 to 53 years old accounted for most transactions at MobilePay during Black Friday.

In 2013, some Danish webshops took the initial steps to introduce Black Friday in Denmark. This was followed up the following year by several Danish stores and department stores, which used the day to promote special offers. In 2015, Black Friday really made its breakthrough in Denmark and broke the record for the largest trading day ever in Danish history, if measured by turnover through the Dankort on a single day. Ever since 2015, Black Week in Denmark has broken records year after year.
