Keeping things basic goes a long way.
There's a reason the biggest bodybuilders in the world still hit presses as their primary focus for chest, there's a reason you can watch the YouTube videos and instagrams of pros and they hit heavy presses, squatting patterns, hinges, etc. the reason is that they work. They always have and always will.
The hyper-specificity trend that's hit as of late with reducing training down to how isolated you can make a specific action to hit a specific body part with the goal of absolutely no other interference of any kind is a fad and it's not based in reality of how the human body even works.
If you been confused as to what the disconnect is between seeing advice on only hitting a very super specific fly movement on cables with cuffs around your upper arm for max chest gains from people that sound smart and convinced of their own points but have no roster of clients they got huge chests doing it and they don't themselves, all while the massive meatheads are smashing giant weights on pressing compounds and have clients on stage year after year with developed chests doing the same, the disconnect is time.
You, being new, haven't yet seen how the confidence in an idea will fade as the results these people promise never show up. They will change tune or fade out of the industry while the people screaming "BASICS" will still be here cranking out results.
