KAREN'S SHOES - 26NKG OPENING CEREMONY.
To celebrate Odense’s cultural heritage the SDU dance company presents the performance ‘Karen’s shoes’: a short contemporary dance piece for five dancers on the music of Carl Nielsen ‘Tågen letter’ and ‘Tit er jeg glad’. Inspired by H.C. Andersen famous tale ‘the red shoes’, the five young dancers in 'Karen’s shoes' present a contemporary version of the original story, where pride and disobedience can also become a source of power and resistance.

The performance is choreographed by Dr Sarah Pini in collaboration with the dancers: Siine Barzel, Josephine Gram Nørregaard, Tanja Jensen, Katrine Tofte Hansen and Jingjing Wu.

Sarah Pini is Assistant Professor of dance and performance at IOB, SDU. Sarah trained professionally in ballet and contemporary dance across Europe for over a decade, working and studying with renowned choreographers including William Forsythe, Wayne McGregor, Angelin Preljocaj, Carolyn Carlson; among many others. Sarah’s artistic work received noumerous acknowledgements and has been showcased internationally.

PRECONDITIONS FOR PROLONGING WORKING LIFE - BETWEEN POLICIES, CIVIL SOCIETY AND THE LIFE COURSE. Last keynote at 26NKG, June 10, is by Kène Henkens:
The ageing of the population has not only made the sustainability of pensions and social security key issues for governments but also influences the ways in which people organize their working lives and firms manage their workforces. In this presentation I will discuss the responses of employers to an ageing workforce, how they affect older workers ability to work till increasing retirement ages and whether longer working lives affect civic engagement.
Kène Henkens is a head of the Theme group on Work & Retirement and is a professor of Ageing, retirement and the Life course at the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG-RUG). He also holds a chair in Sociology of Retirement at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). He has received a VIDI grant from the National Science Foundation (NWO) and a VICI grant in 2014. He is associate editor of the new Oxford journal Work, Aging & Retirement. Henkens is member of the Academia Europaea.

The display area of the poster boards is 94cm (width) * 135cm (height).
Arrange your poster content as simple and clear as possible for an easier read.
Use large size of type for the title, and smaller for author names and affiliations.
No need to reproduce your abstract in the poster.
Consider using simple and eye-catching illustrations and leave out unnecessary details. If possible, covert tables to graphic displays.
Make conclusions brief and clear.
Remember to add your contact details.
Consider preparing a 2-minute pitch about your project, so you can quickly present the essentials to interested congress participants.
In addition to the traditional physical poster format, we strongly recommend including a QR code on your poster with a link to further details (e.g. the pitch of your poster, video material on vimeo/youtube or the like with a few power point slides with speak or a small recorded presentation in Zoom/Teams, a blog post, the project website etc.). This will allow a maximum outreach for your work.

Find a free QR code generator online (e.g. the generator built into Google Chrome). Paste the URL of the website, where you present further details of your study, into the QR code generator. Download the QR code as an image file, and place the QR image on your poster. Remember to test the QR image.

Endnu en vigtig keynote på 26NKG: A GOOD ENOUGH LIFE AND DEATH? By Lone Grøn, anthropologist and professor at VIVE, Odense June 9th 22. Professor Grøn's keynote will address how to think of the good life when old age is lived under challenging and uncertain circumstances? Or, the good death when dying alone with a stranger as your final companion?
The presentation draws on ethnographic fieldworks from a Danish dementia ward and from a group of Danish death doulas, who sit by the bedside of dying strangers. The fieldworks were conducted under two comparative and interdisciplinary research projects: Aging as a Human Condition and Ethics after Individualism.
Building on insights from the anthropology of ethics, as well as critical and responsive phenomenology, it will be discussed how we can talk meaningfully about “the good” in situations of sometimes intense suffering - and in ways that acknowledge the potential pain, loss, loneliness and frailty of aging processes.
Lone Grøn is professor MSO at VIVE The Danish Center for Social Science Research. For two decades she has conducted anthropological research on chronic diseases, self-care, obesity, vulnerability in aging, dementia and end of life focusing on everyday life, patient and family perspectives. She is currently PI on “Aging as a Human Condition. Radical Uncertainty and the Search for a Good (Old) Life” and “ALTER-US. Kinship, Cognitive Difference and Care in the 21st Century Danish Welfare State”.
