We breathe 20.000 to 30.000 times a day.
Most of us only breathe up to 70% of our capacity.
🧮 Let’s do a quick calculation.
That is 6.000 to 9.000 breaths going to waste.
Don’t believe me?
In light of International Breathing Day, I have a quick exercise to show the difference between effective and ineffective breathing.
Note: You'll need a buddy.
Ask your partner, friend or whoever happens to be around.
First, the ineffective breath:
1. Exhale passively
2. Ask your buddy to grab you tightly around the chest and apply a little force
3. Now breathe through the mouth
Feels uncomfortable, doesn't it? 🤐
Now, the effective breath:
1. Exhale passively
2. Ask your buddy to grab you tightly around the chest and apply a little force
3. Breathe in through the nose and fill up from the bottom, using the diaphragm, and move up to the chest as far as you can
That should feel much better. 😌
Share the fun and swap it around so your buddy can experience the difference.
Enjoyed this exercise?
This is just the tip of the iceberg of what we will be doing in the upcoming Instructor Program.
We start April 22nd.
