1999 hatte Hans Künzle die Vision auf der Insel Hispaniola Rundreisen anzubieten.

So erkundete er die Dominikanische Republik und gelangte auf diese Weise in den noch kaum bekannten Süd Westen der Insel, direkt an die Grenze zu Haiti.
