Pakarinka Ushay PAKARINKA USHAY is an Andean ceremonial and cultural education center in Agato, Otavalo, Ecuador

PAKARINKA USHAY is an Andean ceremonial and cultural education center in the rural indigenous community of Agato located at the foot of Tayta Imbabura, only a 15-minute drive from the cities of Cotacachi or Otavalo. Our indigenous yachak (shaman), Tayta Willka Willak offers workshops and retreats in the English language for groups of English-speaking participants. This multilingual seventh-generation yachak has over 30 years of yachak training, teaching, and ceremonial experience. He has extensive in-depth knowledge to share with visitors and participants about pre-Incan and modern Andean indigenous spiritual beliefs, ceremonial practices, and how to follow his people's ancestral path to a wholesome, balanced, healthy and happy life connected with nature. Tayta Willak and his brothers created the first Pakarinka building over twenty years ago. Here and around the world, he has led thousands of ceremonies, healings and spiritual energy cleansings. This new Pakarinka Ushay education program for English speakers was created in May 2024 to bring more balance to the world, helping people everywhere learn how to better connect with nature using the ancestral wisdom of the Andean people.

Tayta Willak speaks Kichwa, English, Spanish, French, and Italian. You can read more about Tayta Willka Willak Guillermo Santillán's in the BIOGRAPHY, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS, and RECOMMENDATIONS sections of our website www.pakarinkaushay.org.

After a plant medicine ceremony or shifting your diet, things can feel especially heavy. 🌿 As Tayta Willak shares, it's because the mind resists letting go of old habits — it's uncomfortable, even painful. But if we stay committed and move through the discomfort with love and trust, the soul finds the peace and fulfillment it’s been longing for. 🌕💫

Keep going. You're not alone on this path. ✨

🌿 Part 5 of our Ayahuasca Journey with Tayta Willak is live!

In this episode, we explore a powerful difference in how Ayahuasca is approached across traditions.
Our brothers and sisters in the Amazon are doing deeply important work, focusing on personal healing and visionary journeys that help individuals reconnect with their soul, release trauma, and find clarity. We honor and deeply respect this path. 🙏🏽

At the same time, Tayta Willak shares the perspective passed down through the Inka lineage — one that sees healing not only as a personal journey but also as a collective responsibility. When we heal ourselves, we become better stewards of our communities. The goal isn’t just personal transformation, but a better society — rooted in reciprocity, respect, and spiritual responsibility.

This episode is a bridge between visions and actions, between personal medicine and collective transformation.

✨ At Pakarinka Ushay, we offer transformative Ayahuasca retreats in the sacred Andes of Ecuador — rooted in ancestral wisdom and guided by a vision for both personal and societal healing.

🌿 Ayahuasca Series #4 - Ayahuasca is a spiritual surgery!
In this episode, Tayta Willak shares profound insight into the sacred use of Ayahuasca. For him, Ayahuasca is a form of spiritual surgery, not the first step on the healing path. He emphasizes the importance of first changing one’s lifestyle and diet, reconnecting with nature, and practicing meditation. Only when these efforts are not enough, should Ayahuasca be approached — as a sacred catalyst for deeper transformation.

If you're unsure whether Ayahuasca is right for you, feel free to reach out to us for guidance.

🌞 After weeks of rain, the sun has returned to our valley – and the land is glowing. Look at the stunning view on Tayta Imbabura and Mama Cotacatchi, two of the sacred mountains who accompany us.

Our beloved dogs and the cat are soaking it all in, just like us – resting, stretching, and enjoying the fresh energy.

This land is alive. We’re so grateful to share it with all beings – human and non-human – who come here to heal, remember, and reconnect.

Let us all be more present by focusing on our breath - Hayni, how we call it in the Kichwa traditions. The only moment that truly exists is now.
