Anteriorly and anterolaterally, the pelvis is bound by the bony p***c arch and ischial tuberosities on both sides. Posteriorly, it is bound by the tip of the sacrum. In shoulder dystocia, the fetal shoulders are stuck at the bony anteroposterior dimension of the pelvis.
