ErgocleanProject International Erasmus+ project "Cleaning ergonomics - to prevent occupational diseases and accidents"

🗣picture guide for teaching ergonomics.🗣
It is recommended to use the picture guide together with the instructional videos.

📣The picture guide can be downloaded in 5 different languages -
🇬🇧English

🤩We are very proud to announce that 20 ergonomics educational videos have been completed!
Since these are short videos without words, they can be used anywhere in the world!

One of the outputs of the project (IO2) was to develop educational videos that could be used to teach cleaning ergonomics. The scenarios and principles of the videos were developed in cooperation with the partners.

🙌It's so nice to meet the project team in real life again. This time we met as part of the LTT event in Amsterdam. The goal of the LTT event is to introduce changes in the ergonomics educational materials based on the feedback and experience we have gathered in different countries during the test period of the educational materials.
We gathered new innovative knowledge in the field of cleaning ergonomics from the Interclean cleaning fair in Amsterdam. We have received confirmation that many of the principles we cover in both educational videos and educational materials are also the principles of many manufacturers of cleaning supplies. The project team have gathered new information from the cleaning fair, with which we can supplement the educational materials.

⭐The most exciting output of the project is the development of 20 ergonomics educational videos.
👉The goal is to develop universal educational videos that can be used throughout Europe and, why not, throughout the world.

👉In these educational videos, we would use a lot of visual solutions so that the video can be understood only visually, regardless of the native language of the viewer.
👉We discuss the scenarios of all the videos with the project partners so that different points of view of the cleaning activities are reflected.

⭐Cleaning ergonomics training videos will be ready by the end of 2023.

Smart wear measurements illustrate the load of cleaning work 👆
Cleaning is considered a medium-heavy job. What does that mean and where does the load fall? The ErgoClean project set out to find the answer using smart wear measurements.
Measurment results are analyzed and raport is done!🙌

Cleaning ergonomics materials
The latest known analysis of occupational diseases and accidents in the EU was published in 2009 (Emmanuelle Brun, European Agency for Safety and Health Work).
Since then, cleaning has changed significantly, and we are started to collect cleaning ergonomics materials from different countries. First results and summary are here and we still working with searching.

In the test situations, ergonomically correct and consciously incorrect cleaning were carried out, and the load of the cleaning methods on the hands was tested. The analysis of the results is ongoing, but already the first quick reports of the analysis program give reason to expect interesting results. The aim is for them to allow us to illustrate what good ergonomics are and why they are so important in the instructional material. The infographic below shows the muscle load in two different cleaning methods that can be used to achieve the same cleaning result. Research with smart clothing was conducted in Finland

making the prepared materials available to everyone free of charge;
preparing a risk analysis, on the basis of which cleaning companies can carry out a risk analysis in their own company;
preparing a training program and conduct pilot training to prevent the 20 most common occupational diseases and accidents.

Partners
In May 2021 we presented project application to Erasmus+ and started with project November 2021. For the project we needed a variety of partners who were enthusiastic about the field and also had the required experience. Achieving the desired result and making the necessary changes is more likely by managing the project ourselves.

Puhastusekspert decided to be the lead partner because we have experience from several previous projects in which we have been partners, and we are currently managing a project as well. Prior experience suggests that successful project work is based on a reliable and hard-working team. This is why a variety of partners are involved in the project, as they help maintain a balance.

Propuhtaus – the company’s leader Tarja Valkosalo has worked in the field of cleaning for more than 30 years, trained others and written books and articles. Tarja has experience in searching for and processing scientific studies. She is aware of international developments. She has also prepared materials about ergonomics in the field of cleaning in the past.

SVS – the biggest trainer and developer in the field of cleaning in the Netherlands. The company has extensive experience in the preparation and dissemination of training materials, including about ergonomics.

Brite-Sol Korlátolt Felelősségű Társaság – Hungary is a country in which the provision of cleaning services is a newer area in comparison with the Netherlands. We would like to test the materials developed in the project and measure their impact. The company is just the right size for this purpose.

Ergonomics is an important area for occupational health. Cleaning is semi-hard physical work that an employee should be able to do from entering the full-time labour market until retirement. Occupational health is very important for this. There are various hazards in the work environment of cleaning service workers: chemical, biological, physical, mental. In the case of occupational diseases, the effects are usually noticeable years later, and it may be difficult to establish links between working conditions and the effects, but they do exist.
