01.-03.05.2026 Ashtanga Yoga Workshop (Koskenpää, FI)
Ashtanga yoga is a beautiful movement-meditation-ritual, led by deep breathing and a systematic vinyasa count. I don't know how to better verbalize it for now and I will not let AI help me out. :) My name is Jocke, I'm a human being with a thinking mind and a beating heart. :)
As some of you know, I am back in practicing and teaching traditional Ashtanga Yoga again. It feels great to be back. I have a workshop coming up, like I mentioned and I will share more information about it on this post, but first I wanted to briefly talk about something else.
Where are all the ashtangis at? :) Where are those Ashtanga practitioners that do a regular morning practice, several times per week? I have a few students now and you are doing great. You are showing up on your mat, day after day. Meeting yourself early morning, connecting, breathing, being... You are doing it just as we used to do about ten years ago. Great job! But where are all the others? I mean, when I search for Ashtanga Yoga in Estonia and even in Finland, I can only find two schools that offer daily morning classes. Ashtanga Yoga School of Tallinn https://www.ashtanga.ee and Ashtanga Yoga School of Helsinki https://www.astangajooga.fi
Where are all ashtangis at? If you are one of them, say hi in the comments. And if you do want to get back on track, please join us. It is absolutely worth it. I also teach online, so it is also possible for you who are not in Tallinn.
THE WORKSHOP
The workshop will take place here in Koskenpää, in our 100 year old school house. Koskenpää is in central Finland, about 300 km from Helsinki and about 40 km from Jämsä (train station, we can pick you up). We are surrounded by peaceful nature, unlimited amount of Prana, and an environment void of noise and busyness. When you come here to practice yoga, you come for a reset.
About the practice. We start early with Pranayama, followed by a Mysore style practice. If you don't know mysore style, no worries, we will teach you. We take maximum of 10 people to the workshop and there are two teachers, me and my wife Terje. After the practice we enjoy a tasty breakfast. During the day we have free time to connect with nature but we also have a 1 to 2 hour long workshop about anything that we see is needed. Lunch follows the practice again, just like dinner follows our evening practice, which is Yin Yoga to relax the body and the mind. The day is finished with Sauna and/or bonfire discussions.
Who is this practice for? Anyone of you who:
-wants to deepen your practice
-wants to reconnect with the practice
-wants to reconnect with me and Terje
-wants to do a reset
-wants to connect with nature
-wants to balance the nervous system
-wants to eat and move health
-wants to get away from the city
-wants to learn ashtanga yoga
Save the date and please follow our posts. We are going to update the specific schedule in the next couple of days, including the early bird price, and the registration information. Remember, we only take 10 people to the workshop. This gives us the possibility to truly connect with you, and it gives you the possibility to learn more.
We practice and teach Ashtanga yoga because it affects the physical body, emotional body, and the mind. It is a complete system that when properly practiced, always works. There is no question if it works. The only question is... are you going to do it?
"Do your practice and all is coming"
