How does Estonia stay competitive in the global race for foreign direct investment?
At our C-Suite Briefing this morning, Ursel Velve, CEO of the EIS (Estonian Business and Innovation Agency), shared a clear and ambitious roadmap for what comes next. Moderated by Nele Normak, The Coca-Cola Company Baltics, the discussion focused on turning strategy into impact.

Key focus areas:
🔹 R&D
🔹 Investments
🔹 Exports
🔹 Energy efficiency & better housing

What’s new? A stronger customer experience approach, redesigned services, deeper university collaboration, and a shift from grants to loans — including innovation loans. The goal: more efficiency, more impact, more results.
The lively Q&A touched on tourism, supporting existing businesses (not just new ones), behavioural science in policymaking, and the importance of a more positive economic narrative.
The takeaway? Staying on the global map requires agility, partnership, and bold thinking. Thank you to Ursel Velve and Nele Normak for a timely and forward-looking conversation.

Today, as part of the AmCham Dialogue Series 2026, we hosted an insightful online discussion with Estonian Minister of Education and Research, Kristina Kallas, organized by the AmCham Talent & Education Committee.

Minister Kallas presented Estonia’s ambitious AI Leap initiative in education, addressing a question that is rapidly becoming central to education systems worldwide: How should schools respond when AI begins to outperform human cognitive skills? Rather than restricting technology, Estonia has chosen to integrate it strategically.
Launched in February 2025, the program provides ChatGPT licenses to students and teachers nationwide, accompanied by scientific monitoring of metacognitive abilities and learning patterns. The goal is not simply digital adoption, but transformation — equipping educators to foster higher-order thinking skills, critical analysis, and responsible AI use in the classroom.

The discussion explored:
✨Practical examples of generative AI use in classrooms
✨Teacher training models that support pedagogical innovation
✨Language requirements and integration of international educators
✨The inclusion of private schools
✨Lifelong learning strategies in an AI-driven economy

A key takeaway was Minister Kallas’ strong emphasis on upskilling the adult population and the role of businesses in investing in employee development. AI readiness, she noted, is not only an educational issue — it is an economic competitiveness imperative.

Estonia continues to position itself at the forefront of digital governance and innovation. The AI Leap initiative demonstrates a proactive approach: embracing technological change while strengthening human capability.
Thank you to Minister Kristina Kallas, Haridus- ja Teadusministeerium team and all participants for a forward-looking and thought-provoking exchange.

Last night’s AmCham Women in Leadership Dinner devoted to "Women in Healthcare" brought together an inspiring group of leaders for an open and thoughtful discussion on what it truly means to lead in healthcare today.

We were honored to hear from three outstanding speakers:
🔹 Ülle Ernits , Tallinna Tervishoiu Kõrgkool/Tallinn Health University of Applied Sciences
🔹 Liina Harjus-Soostar, Board Member, Head of Nursing and Patient Experience, SA Tallinna Lastehaigla/Tallnn Children's Hospital
🔹 Kadri Haljas, PhD, Founder & CEO, Triumf Health, Mental Health Innovator

The conversation was expertly moderated by Olivia Kranich, Counsel at Sorainen Eesti.

Key themes of the evening included leadership journeys and pivotal career moments, the role of education and mentoring in supporting women leaders, and the realities of crisis management and decision-making under pressure. The speakers shared powerful reflections on leading through uncertainty, making difficult decisions with limited information, and maintaining trust and clarity during challenging times.

💡 Key takeaways for future leaders:
• Be honest and transparent with your team
• Adapt quickly to a changing environment and evolving working lifestyles
• Lead with empathy, integrity, and courage
• Invest in people and never stop learning

A truly inspiring evening and a strong reminder of the impact women leaders continue to have on the future of healthcare.
A big thank you to our guest speakers, our partner and supporter of the event LaSpa Laulasmaa and all participants who joined the event!
