I had no idea how many people secretly wanted to write a book until I became an author.

Now every dinner party, long flight, or casual conversation somehow turns into an impromptu book pitch session (truthfully… I love it).

Over the years, I’ve developed a few ways to evaluate whether an idea actually has the depth to sustain a full-length book, so I thought I’d share them for anyone wondering whether their idea could become one.

This week’s epiphany:

We pray for a life beyond imagination, then panic the moment life stops looking familiar.

What if the unfamiliarity is evidence that your world is expanding?

Hey friends,

I decided to sit down and write out five pieces of writing advice that were passed down to me from early mentors, hard lessons, embarrassing drafts, and many years spent writing books, essays, and stories for a living.

A few of these genuinely saved me years of second-guessing myself.

If you’re a writer of any type — aspiring author, essayist, content creator, founder, or just someone trying to put real thoughts into words — I hope something in here helps you too.

More of the leaders, founders, and quiet builders in my world are finally writing the book they’ve been circling for years.

And I get why.

A book is still the most disproportionate credibility move available. Nothing else compresses your thinking, your authority, and your point of view into a single object — something that can sit on someone’s desk, get handed across a table, or open a door you weren’t even asking to walk through.

It’s the business card that doesn’t get thrown away.
The introduction that arrives before you do.
The proof that you’ve actually thought something through — not just posted about it.

In a market drowning in content, a book is one of the few things left that quietly says:

this person is serious.

If you’ve been circling yours for years, this is your reminder…

The world has more than enough noise. It’s still hungry for the people brave enough to put something real on the page.

My life has had a lot of unexpected plot twists, and one of the most meaningful things I’ve learned is how to find peace even in the middle of uncertainty. For me, that comes from building a strong inward compass. It means getting curious instead of reactive, asking better questions instead of letting fear take over, and learning to trust myself as I move through things I can’t fully control.

When I see life more as an adventure and take it a little less seriously, everything shifts. There’s more openness, more ease, and a lot less pressure to have it all figured out.

Some of the best books I’ll never read already exist.

They’re just sitting in someone’s head.

I wrote about why…
