🔴 Apixaban (Eliquis®️)+ Carbamazepine (Tegretol®️)

X - Avoid combination
📌 Summary:
- Inducers of CYP3A4 and P-glycoprotein (Carbamazepine) may decrease the serum concentration of Apixaban.
🚫 Interaction:
- Carbamazepine, an enzyme-inducing antiepileptic drug, can significantly decrease the plasma concentration of Apixaban.
- Potential Outcome: Reduced effectiveness of Apixaban, leading to a higher risk of blood clots or stroke.
🔄 Management:
- If co-administration of Apixaban and Carbamazepine is necessary, close monitoring of the anticoagulant effect of Apixaban is recommended.
- Consideration of alternative anticoagulant options or adjustment of Apixaban dosage may be required.
