May is Mental Health Awareness Month—a time to prioritize our emotional well-being. Mental health affects how we think, feel, and act every single day. Whether you are managing stress, facing anxiety, or supporting someone you care about, know that you are not alone. Healing isn’t linear, and asking for help is a sign of strength—not weakness. Together, we can create a world where mental wellness is a priority and everyone feels seen, heard, and supported.

Journaling and reflecting on the good things that you experience daily, help you spot the positive moments, words, situations and thoughts before they get lost in the busyness of the day. This habit, if done regularly, trains the brain to spot the good things that happen throughout the day. By time this becomes a normal and automatic habit that fills the mind with positivity and gratitude. Once the mind is filled with positive thoughts, positive emotions follow.

One of the terms that is commonly confused with the term ‘Psychology’ is ‘Psychiatry’. Because the difference between both terms is unknown to some, the terms tend to be interchangeably used as synonyms; However, there is a distinct difference where a Psychiatrist is a medical doctor who focuses on mental health problems and is qualified to prescribe medications if needed. Unlike a Psychologist who is qualified to offer assessment, consultation and therapy without prescribing medications.
