Canal Sugar and Minya Governorate Launch Community Initiative to Regulate Sugar Distribution

In a recent meeting with H.E. Governor Emad Kadwany, Dr. Kamel Abdullah, Managing Director & CEO of Canal Sugar, discussed the launch of a new initiative to streamline sugar distribution, reduce middlemen, and ensure price stability across Minya.

The initiative, supervised by the Directorate of Supply, will be implemented in two phases, starting with licensed food and beverage manufacturers.

Dr. Kamel emphasized that 60% of Canal Sugar’s workforce is made up of Minya residents, stating:
“Minya’s land bounty must reach its people.”

مبادرة مجتمعية لضبط أسعار السكر وتوفيره لأهالي المنيا

في لقاء جمع بين اللواء عماد كدواني، محافظ المنيا، والدكتور كامل العبدالله، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة القناة للسكر، تم بحث آليات تنفيذ مبادرة مجتمعية تهدف إلى تقليل الحلقات الوسيطة بين المصنع والمستهلك لضبط توزيع السكر وتوفيره بأسعار تنافسية.

المبادرة، التي سيتم تنفيذها على مرحلتين، تستهدف في مرحلتها الأولى مصانع الأغذية والمشروبات. وستكون تحت إشراف مديرية التموين بالمحافظة.

وأكد الدكتور كامل العبدالله أن المبادرة تأتي في إطار التزام الشركة تجاه أهالي المنيا، حيث أن 60% من القوة العاملة في المصنع من أبناء المحافظة والمناطق المجاورة، قائلاً:
“خير أرض المنيا لابد أن يصل إلى أهل المنيا.”

Minya Governor Visits Canal Sugar Factory, Praises Advanced Technology and National Impact

As part of the national celebration of the 30th of June Revolution, Major General Emad Kadwany, Governor of Minya, visited Canal Sugar’s factory.

During his visit, the Governor witnessed firsthand the cutting-edge technologies used across the production lines and emphasized the critical role of major investment projects in advancing industrial development, increasing local production, and supporting the national economy.

Dr. Kamel Abdullah, CEO and Managing Director of Canal Sugar, expressed that the visit highlights the strength of public-private sector collaboration and the state’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for investors. He reaffirmed that the factory is deeply rooted in the local community and aspires to scale up production capacity to 36,000 tons of sugar per day.

Mohamed Adly, Chief Strategy and People Officer, added that 60% of Canal Sugar’s workforce is from Minya and surrounding areas—an intentional effort to create direct local benefit and empower the community through employment opportunities.

This milestone reflects Canal Sugar’s strategic contribution to achieving self-sufficiency, empowering Upper Egypt’s farmers, and supporting Egypt’s food security goals through innovation and sustainable development.

محافظ المنيا يشيد بتقنيات الإنتاج المتقدمة بمصنع القناة للسكر

في إطار الاحتفال بذكرى ثورة 30 يونيو، قام اللواء عماد كدواني، محافظ المنيا، بزيارة مصنع القناة للسكر.

خلال جولته داخل المصنع، تابع المحافظ مراحل التصنيع الحديثة التي تعتمد على أحدث التقنيات التكنولوجية، مشيدًا بالدور المحوري الذي تلعبه المشروعات الاستثمارية الكبرى مثل شركة القناة للسكر في دفع عجلة التنمية الصناعية وزيادة الإنتاج المحلي وتعزيز الاقتصاد الوطني.

من جانبه، أكد الدكتور كامل العبدالله، الرئيس التنفيذي والعضو المنتدب لشركة القناة للسكر، أن زيارة اليوم تجسد الشراكة الفعالة بين القطاعين العام والخاص، وتعكس مدى جاهزية الدولة لدعم المستثمرين وتوفير بيئة جاذبة وآمنة للاستثمار. كما أشار إلى أن المصنع جزء لا يتجزأ من نسيج أهل المنيا، ونسعى للوصول إلى طاقة إنتاجية يومية تبلغ 36 ألف طن سكر.

وأوضح محمد عدلي، رئيس قطاع الاستراتيجيات و الموارد البشرية، أن 60٪ من القوى العاملة بالشركة من محافظة المنيا والمناطق المحيطة بها، في خطوة تهدف إلى تمكين المجتمع المحلي وتوفير فرص عمل حقيقية لأبنائه.

تأتي هذه الخطوة تأكيدًا على الدور الاستراتيجي الذي تقوم به شركة القناة للسكر في تحقيق الاكتفاء الذاتي ودعم الأمن الغذائي الوطني، من خلال تمكين المزارعين وتعزيز التنمية المستدامة في صعيد مصر.

🌸 Empowering Women Through Awareness

As part of our ongoing partnership with Baheya Foundation, and following last year’s successful campaigns, Canal Sugar proudly organized the first breast cancer awareness session of 2025 in Minya, in collaboration with the Minya Governorate’s Department of Women, Motherhood & Childhood, Misr Public Library, and the Ministry of Social Solidarity.

📍 Venue: Misr Public Library – Minya
🗓️ Date: Sunday, June 29
👩‍⚕️ Attendance: Over 170 women, community leaders, and village representatives from across the governorate.

The event was held under the umbrella of the presidential initiative “With Awareness, We Protect Her”, and attended by several key figures including:

في إطار شراكتنا المستمرة مع مؤسسة بهية، وبعد النجاح الكبير لحملات التوعية في العام الماضي، تفخر شركة القناة للسكر بتنظيم أول ندوة توعية بسرطان الثدي لعام 2025 بمحافظة المنيا، بالتعاون مع إدارة المرأة والأمومة والطفولة بالمحافظة، مكتبة مصر العامة، ومديرية التضامن الاجتماعي.

Hear directly from our team—this edition of Employee Spotlight features Ahmed Neama, recently promoted to Supply Chain Operations Manager. His journey reflects the drive, dedication, and growth mindset that Canal Sugar continues to nurture and celebrate.

“I joined Canal Sugar in 2021 as a Distribution Lead — and from the very beginning, I found myself in the middle of an incredibly dynamic environment. Deliveries, coordination, logistics — everything moved fast, and every decision mattered. It was a challenge, but it was also exactly what I needed to push myself forward.

Those first two years, from 2021 to 2023, shaped how I work. I had to sharpen my planning skills, become quicker in my responses, and learn how to keep things moving smoothly no matter what. I started volunteering for extra tasks — anything that didn’t have an owner. I saw every challenge as a chance to learn something new and prove to myself that I was ready for more.

That mindset paid off. In 2023, I was promoted to Beet Transportation Manager — a pivotal moment in my journey. In a blink of an eye, I was responsible for managing the massive beet campaign: thousands of tons moved daily, endless logistics, and the kind of management that required both calm thinking and quick action. It wasn’t easy — but it was incredibly rewarding. It taught me how to turn complexity into clarity and build solutions under pressure.

Now, in my current role as Supply Chain Operations Manager, I see the whole picture — strategy, systems, cross-functional coordination, and long-term planning. Every decision ties back to something bigger. And I carry with me every lesson learned along the way — from the field, the road, and the people I worked with.

For me, this is still just the beginning. There’s always a new level to reach — and I’m here for it.”
