A slice of support goes a long way.

Inna, originally from Ukraine, and her husband, who is from Venice, Italy, opened Slice of Venice () with a simple goal: serve food that tastes good and makes people feel good.

While traveling through Italy, the couple noticed something that stayed with them. Even quick stops for pizza or pasta felt different — lighter, simpler, made with real ingredients. They say that experience inspired them to bring that same approach to Texas.

Last year, they opened their authentic Italian pizza and pasta restaurant, focused on high-quality ingredients and traditional recipes. In just one year, they built a loyal customer base and created a space rooted in family and care.

But despite strong reviews and repeat guests, low foot traffic made it difficult to sustain the business, putting their future at risk.

Then a viral video from creator introduced Slice of Venice to thousands of new viewers.

Since then, the community has shown up in a big way. Orders have increased, new customers are discovering the restaurant for the first time, and supporters are helping spread the word.

For Inna and her family, the recent wave of attention has brought renewed momentum — and a second chance to keep their dream going.

Did you know we have a service to help university students with their mental health?

Our Chief Digital Information Officer, Alistair Reid-Pearson, recently visited the Greater Manchester Universities Student Mental Health Service to meet with staff service user Yeudis, to find out how they support Greater Manchester’s student population – one of the largest in England!

The Greater Manchester Universities Student Mental Health Service is a partnership between The University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University, The University of Salford, the University of Greater Manchester (formerly the University of Bolton), the RNCM - Royal Northern College of Music and NHS Greater Manchester, with the clinical service being provided by Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH).

It is recognised nationally as reducing A&E and Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) presentations by students by 19%, which helps to free up capacity, allowing resources to be redirected towards other priorities, including supporting the wider population.

After the visit, Alistair, said: “Many thanks to colleagues at the Greater Manchester Universities Student Mental Health Service for hosting the visit. It was inspiring to see a service making such a real difference for students across Greater Manchester.

“The partnership, passion and expertise on display are truly exceptional, and hearing Yeudis' story really demonstrated how life-changing the support can be.”
